For years there has been a big unanswered question in the Call of Duty community; when is the MW2 Remastered Release Date?
The release date for the original Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 was November 10, 2009, nearly 10 years ago now. Since then various rumors have surfaced throughout the period suggesting MW2R was on the horizon. So far, it hasn’t happened or ever been officially revealed. However, an inside Gaming INTEL source suggests it may be closer than we think.
MW2 Remastered Leak
Our inside source has suggested MW2 Remastered could be bundled with Call of Duty Black Ops 4. However, not a fully fledged Multiplayer game; but a Campaign with the potential for Spec Ops.
Now, this isn’t confirmed and there are some unanswered questions (which i’ll go through below) but I can say the source has been proven reliable on previous leaks. Many of these previous leaks included intricate details which couldn’t have been guessed and the information hadn’t been publicly available.
You may ask yourself, why would Activision release a game originally made by Infinity Ward alongside Treyarchs’ Black Ops 4? Our source has suggested MW2R was pushed back due to some real world events.
Campaign Only – No Multiplayer
This will quite rightly be frustrating for hardcore MW2 fans, however the information we’ve been given strictly points towards a Campaign (potentially with Spec Ops). It could be a decision based on not enough players on MWR to justify a fully fledged MW2R. Also the playerbase is going to be split between Blackout, MP and Zombies enough already. The decision to reduce Black Ops 4 Multiplayer to 5 vs 5 may have been introduced to reduce issues in matchmaking with a split player base. This isn’t to say MW2R Multiplayer will never arrive, but from the information we’ve received, it won’t be this year.
MW2 Remastered Spec Ops Possibly Added
The source hesitantly added that Spec Ops may well be included, but could not explicitly confirm this. For those who don’t know (otherwise known as Special Ops) is a single player or co-op game mode first included in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. These are 23 fast paced missions that gradually increase in difficulty and split up into 5 categories.
Alpha: The Pit, Sniper Fi, O Cristo Redentor, Evasion and Suspension.
Bravo: Overwatch, Body Count, Bomb Squad, Race and Big Brother.
Charlie: Hidden, Breach & Clear, Time Trial, Homeland Security and Snatch & Grab.
Delta: Wardriving, Wreckage, Acceptable Losses, Terminal and Estate Takedown.
Echo: Wetwork, High Explosive and Armor Piercing.
With no Multiplayer insight, this could potentially be a large part of the Remastered content. Just the campaign is pretty slim content but the co-ops could add a different dynamic with teamwork from friends.
MW2 Remastered Release Date
An interesting leak regarding Call of Duty Black Ops 4 could tie in with the release date of MW2 Remastered. The leak suggests two digital editions called the Digital Deluxe edition and Digital Deluxe Plus edition. This sounds similar to the Legacy Edition from Infinite Warfare where it was bundled with CoD 4: MWR. If this does tie in we can expect the release of MW2 Remastered on October 12th, 2018.
MW2 No Russian Controversy
No Russian is the 4th mission in MW2. It is the first game in which a player is in full control of a terrorist attack with the option of killing hundreds of civilians. Although players have an option to turn this mission off before starting the campaign it didn’t stop the heavy criticism. This runs particularly deep as in the game it plays a major role in starting World War III, in the current day and age Russia’s relations with the West are considered to be at a new low since the Cold War.
With this in mind, it begs the question whether Activision will stick to their guns and include the mission or pull it out and even go a step further to remove other Russia references.
Once again we stress this is an unconfirmed leak, but it is from a source previously proven reliable. Don’t miss out on more Call of Duty News from our exclusive inside sources.
