Modern Warfare 2 Receives New Update on Xbox One (May 23rd)

Modern Warfare 2 New Update on Xbox One (May 23rd)

A recent Modern Warfare 2 update on Xbox One has prompted speculation throughout the entire Call of Duty community.

MW2 Xbox One Update

While recent rumors have hinted at the arrival of Modern Warfare 2 Remastered (Campaign only) later this year, many have deemed this update in relation to the suppose upcoming game. This almost certainly isn’t the case, however.

The MW2 Xbox One update appears to be 532.20 MB, depending on your region. The official patch notes or changes are yet to be confirmed, however many believe it has only fixed some backward compatibility issues.

Over the course of the past few months / weeks, several players have been complaining following issues with matchmaking and servers. It’s possible today’s patch also implemented a range of improvements in a bid to improve stability.

NEW INTEL: Call of Duty 2019 is NOT called MW4, Campaign similar to No Russian rumored.

Call of Duty Franchise Xbox Spotlight Sale

As part of Microsoft’s Spotlight sale, an array of different Call of Duty games are on sale, in addition to a host of others. Modern Warfare 2 is currently available at 25% discount, whereas MW3 can be purchased at 50% off the original price.

Call of Duty Franchise Xbox Spotlight Sale

It’s important players don’t overthink the reasoning behind this update, even if it may have released at an extremely interesting time. The same applies to the COD franchise being on sale. Promotions similar to these occur throughout the year.

While we are approaching the Call of Duty 2019 reveal, fans will often deem these as more than they are actually are. Even though MW2 Remastered is reportedly set for release later this year, an MW2 update is presumably just a coincidence.

MW2 was made available on Backwards Compatibility back in August 2018, due to over 100,000 requests almost enforcing Microsoft to do so.

The iconic and much-beloved title also recently surpassed its ten-year anniversary since the worldwide reveal trailer aired back on May 22nd, 2009. Now, even to this day, it’s still considered the greatest Call of Duty game of all time to many.

Although the small file size would suggest nothing more has been adjusted than merely a few bug fixes, we stress that Activision, nor Xbox have officially noted the changes featured in today’s patch.

  1. From what I can tell they fixed the lobby merge system but they left the lobby counter broken which has a negative effect on the perception of the game population
