Following a recent Call of Duty Black Ops 4 update, Treyarch mysteriously removed Zombies from their much beloved Blackout mode. In addition, Level 3 Armor was also removed from Mystery Boxes. Whilst there appears to be no explanation for these sudden changes, confusion soon sparked throughout the entire community. Therefore, many players began to start asking questions.
Treyarch Mysteriously Remove Zombies from Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Blackout
Prior to Black Ops 4’s most recent update, Treyarch tweeted out the following:
It’s cold out there in the world of Blackout… where did all the Zombies go? Are they dead again? Or are they planning something for the holidays…?
— Treyarch Studios (@Treyarch) December 21, 2018
With DLC 1 already released, it’s unclear as to what exactly they are planning. Will the Zombies return to Call of Duty Blackout? Do they have a few plans in store for next week?
From Mystery Boxes to making players fearful of the undead, Zombies revolutionise Blackout in a number of ways. Without this addition, Treyarch’s take on the Battle Royale genre would be extremely different, as shown over the past few days.
In addition, Treyarch appear to have also teased next week’s Black Ops 4 update on the BO4 subreddit:
“Play nice out there this holiday season…we might have some goodies in our sleigh for next week”
It’s unclear as to what exactly they have up their sleeve for next week. As always, fans had slightly hilarious assumptions:
- Zombies turning into Elves
- Santa Hat Customisation in Zombies
- & More
If recent theories and speculation is anything to go by, these recent changes may very well be in celebration of the Holiday Season. Patch 1.11 is expected to release next week. Therefore, Treyarch could let the cat out the bag and reveal exactly why these changes have occurred then.
For now, players can jump into Nuketown, Asylum, the Lighthouse, amongst other areas without worrying about being attacked by a Zombie.
