Gaming INTEL has received another Black Ops 4 rumor via an anonymous tip. The tipster has revealed to us that the Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Setting will be in the near future. Our tipsters have been correct on numerous occasions. For example, one of our sources correctly predicted that Call of Duty Black Ops 4 will be playable at the reveal and is taking place in Jet Center.
If we take a look back at the previous Call of Duty games, we could potentially de-code what this means. The most recent Call of Duty game saw a jump back to the past with World War Two. This was a massive change from the most recent games released by the Call of Duty franchise. The predecessor to WWII was Infinite Warfare which was set in a futuristic world, in space. Prior to this was Black Ops 3, which was apparently set between 2065 – 2070.
However, this new rumour from our exclusive source appears to shake things up.
Black Ops 4 Setting – Near Future?
What could the ‘near future’ mean? Will Call of Duty Black Ops 4 take place before Black Ops 3? Some would consider 2065 to be near future (it is only 47 years away). However, could we see a potential World War Three scenario? Or post-nuclear war atmosphere? Treyarch could play on the current Cold War like tensions that are constantly occurring around the world.
There were a few leaks back in April from a Youtuber who described one of the maps as a ‘demolished city’ . Perhaps this could fit in with the themes of nuclear apocalypse?
Near future suggests some time very soon. Potentially, we could see anything between 2020 – 2065 (assuming they don’t wish to overlap with Black Ops 3).
Nevertheless, we only have a few days until the Black Ops 4 Reveal event on May 17, 2018. Hopefully, we will find out what ‘near future’ will entail. Unless Treyarch and Activision decide to leave it until E3 2018, which takes place in a couple of weeks. Having said that one thing is a definite. We will know all about Black Ops 4 by June 14, at the very latest.
