It seems that a Twitter Ad from the main Call of Duty Twitter account has revealed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is set to be another PlayStation 4 DLC Exclusive.
The deal for DLC exclusivity started up between Activision and Sony when Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 was released and was set to continue for three years of Call of Duty releases. This means that the deal between Activision and Sony should have in fact come to a close at the end of Call of Duty: WW2’s DLC life cycle, but a recent advertisement from the Call of Duty Twitter account suggests that the trend of Sony receiving the DLC first is set to continue.

Due to the nature of Twitter ads, the video itself is only visible by clicking through to the twitter page through the link above. Furthermore, the only way you can see the ad on Twitter itself is by someone else retweeting the tweet or for the ad to naturally pop up onto your feed through Twitter’s targeted advertising algorithms. Going to the Call of Duty Twitter page itself will not allow you to see it.
The video in question doesn’t really tell us anything new about the new game, other than the state of the DLC Exclusivity itself. The Black Ops 4 logo appears on the screen in a gaudy flash of lens flares before fading to reveal the time and date of the community reveal. Which in turn gives way to a short PS4 Pro plug.
While there is no overt reference to the state of DLC in Black Ops 4’s run, there is also no mention of Xbox in this ad. In fact, Activision hasn’t mentioned Xbox at all throughout the build-up to Black Ops 4’s community reveal. Based on this it is likely that PC and Xbox One players will have yet another year of month-long waiting for the DLC to be released, something that PC players will long be used to, and that Xbox players may find a bitter pill to swallow.
