It looks like Call of Duty has some big titles ahead of it, with Modern Warfare 2, a Black Ops 2 futuristic title, and a Zombies project.
There’s a new Call of Duty leak making waves, as the franchise’s 2022 and 2023 releases may be getting early reveals. Although we’ve got Call of Duty: Vanguard releasing this year, a lot of fans aren’t overly optimistic about the WW2 title.
According to past leaks, Warzone is getting a huge WW2 map with planes and tanks. But one leaker believes that Vanguard itself will be a disaster at launch.
Already, fans are getting excited about the future of the Call of Duty series, but not necessarily for this year’s entry. Instead, many are looking ahead to Infinity Ward’s sequel to Modern Warfare which should arrive in 2022.
Call of Duty Leaker Teases 2022 and 2023 Plans
In a new video, Call of Duty leaker Tom Henderson reveals more about what’s to come in 2022 and 2023.
If a return to WW2 isn’t your thing, you won’t be waiting too long for a return to a modern setting. In the conclusion to his new ‘Truth About Call of Duty: WW2 Vanguard’ video, Henderson reveals that Infinity Ward is doing what fans want most.
In 2022, it seems we’ll be getting a sequel to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019). And with the first reboot being a huge success for the franchise, it seems clear that we’ll be getting the Modern Warfare 2 that fans have been asking for.
But after that, Henderson reveals that he’s been hearing reports about Treyarch’s next title. And it appears that the studio is aiming for a slightly futuristic Black Ops title, reminiscent of Black Ops 2.
Although we’re heading to the future once again, don’t expect Exosuits, Henderson states. The next Black Ops will be a ‘boots on the ground’ title, but with some more futuristic elements.
We expect the development of the upcoming project to be heavily influenced by the success of Battlefield 2042. We also hope that by 2023, we finally get our next-gen exclusive Call of Duty title, allowing Treyarch to go all out on development.
Right now, Call of Duty is being held back by PS4 and Xbox One consoles, but for good reason. After all, ongoing stock shortages mean that many fans are still looking for their next-gen devices.
Thankfully, the PS5 stock shortage is about to come to an end. And what’s more, it looks like the Xbox Series X/S stock issues are already letting up!
Standalone Call of Duty Zombies Game Leak
Henderson finishes up with yet another tease about an upcoming standalone Call of Duty Zombies game. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about the major Zombies project, and the leaker still believes it’s in the works.
The leaker states that he’s heard that there are “a lot of big plans for Call of Duty Zombies over the course of the next couple of years.” Even though Sledgehammer Games is getting help from Treyarch on Vanguard’s Zombies mode, this isn’t all that’s coming to the undead survival franchise.
We certainly hope this is the case as it’s getting to a point where Warzone Season 4 is already unplayable on older consoles. In fact, Cold War as a whole has been far from perfect, even on next-gen units.
