Fans of the Call of Duty series want the objective-based ‘War’ game mode previously seen in Call of Duty: WWII to return in Vanguard.
Call of Duty Vanguard is one of the most highly anticipated games in the world right now and fans of the series are expecting a lot from the game.
While gamers have already played the new gunfight-meets-battle-royale game mode ‘Champions Hill’ in the Vanguard Alpha, players are eagerly awaiting what other game modes are in store.
There is also one game mode in particular that players want to return in Vanguard – ‘War’.
But first, find out why Call of Duty fans called Vanguard Champions Hill boring.
Will The ‘War’ Game Mode Be in Call of Duty Vanguard?
Developer Sledgehammer Games has already announced that Call of Duty Vanguard will launch with a whopping 20 Multiplayer maps. However, we don’t know much about the game modes on offer yet.
While Vanguard will almost certainly have the classic Multiplayer modes like Team Deathmatch, Call of Duty fans are desperate for the return of a fan-favorite mode from WWII.

‘War’ was an objective-based game mode from Sledgehammer Games’ previous COD title Call of Duty: WWII. And despite the game itself having mixed reviews, almost all players loved this mode, thanks to the strategy it required to attack and defend the objectives.
In particular, Redditor u/Martian_Zombie50 explains just why players want it to return in Call of Duty Vanguard. They said:
“In my opinion War mode was by far the best game mode of any COD ever. It gave each game breadth and variance that no other game mode could. It strongly encouraged objective-based gameplay rather than the monotony of running around a tiny map endlessly killing”
Plenty of other fans have upvoted the post too and would like to see this game mode return. However, this looks unlikely.
Sledgehammer Games has not mentioned anything about the game mode so far. Plus, with 18 of the 20 launch maps being 6v6 Multiplayer focused, that leaves little room for the ‘War’ game mode.
Would you like the see the ‘War’ game mode return in Call of Duty Vanguard too? The strategy could even be taken to the next level thanks to Call of Duty Vanguard’s Gunsmith having 10 attachment slots.
Meanwhile, there will also be another classic Call of Duty feature returning, according to a leaker. Call of Duty Vanguard could bring back the Firing Range.
Also, make sure to find out how the destructible ‘reactive environments’ work in Vanguard. This is yet another feature that could be great in the ‘War’ game mode.
Finally, Vanguard will also be introducing a brand-new Warzone map with improved anti-cheat. This is possibly what players are excited for most.
