MW3 Season 1 Reloaded may have been the most broken update in Call of Duty history, and Activision is apologizing by offering up some Double XP.
When Season 1 Reloaded dropped on January 17, players quickly discovered that the update was riddled with issues. Warzone was unplayable, with loadout drops that broke the game when opened, MW3 Ranked Play was delayed at the last second, and some players couldn’t even open their games at all.
For a full breakdown on the issues, here’s our breakdown on what fans called the ‘worst update ever.’
But now, Activision is seeking to set things right.
There’s Free Double XP Up For Grabs
In a post to Call of Duty’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, Activision is offering Double XP to all MW3 & Warzone players as a thanks for their patience during Season 1 Reloaded’s rocky launch.
“We appreciate our community for their patience as we worked through updates to Season 1 Reloaded,” the post reads.
As a thank you, fans can enjoy an extended Double XP event in-game right now, as well as a free gift from the Call of Duty publisher.
Within 48 hours of logging into Call of Duty HQ, the new all-in-one launcher for the shooter franchise, players will receive 1 Hour 2XP tokens for Player XP, Weapon XP, and Battle Pass XP.
These three separate tokens can be used at your leisure, but they won’t be stackable with this weekend’s Double XP event. There’s no quadruple XP boost in MW3, we’re afraid.
Speaking of which, instead of ending the active Double XP after the weekend is up, players will be able to receive 24/7 Double XP in all three categories until Wednesday, January 24, 2024.
Going by previous Double XP events, we expect the 2XP period to come to an end at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM GMT on January 24.
Is Season 1 Reloaded Fixed?
Yes, the MW3 and Warzone Season 1 Reloaded update is now fixed, with Activision resolving many of the major issues over the last 48 hours.
Raven Software offered an explanation as to why things went so wrong, earlier today:
The company claimed they were laying the groundwork for future updates, which affected some features that were currently live.
And after doing so, they even teased the return of Rebirth Island and Specialist Tokens.
Ranked Play and the Warzone Champion’s Quest are both live in-game at last, after they were both out on hold due to launch issues. But we’re still waiting for Covert Exfils and Weapon Cases to re-surface, after the features were delayed shortly before the update arrived.
