If you’re hoping to catch an early look at what Call of Duty 2023 has to offer, you’d better be good at basketball.
Activision has remained pretty tight-lipped about what Call of Duty is bringing to the table in 2023. Initially, rumor was that MW2 was going to be the series’ first title to receive 2 years of support – a fact that many fans were quite excited about.
Then, the story shifted to 2023 bringing with it a large-scale DLC, including a map pack and campaign expansion. And now Activision has confirmed that, no, it’s business as usual for Call of Duty, with a full-scale premium release dropping later this year.

But while we haven’t seen it for ourselves, select NBA players have already had a chance to check out the COD 2023 demo.
Call of Duty 2023 Shown to NBA Players
Several NBA players have begun posting to their social media pages, revealing that Activision is finally ready to show off Call of Duty 2023.
Unfortunately, to be in with a chance at seeing the game’s demo, you’ll need to be at the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas this weekend. And you’ll need to be a professional basketball player.
In various posts on Instagram, NBA players can be seen pictured at an exclusive COD event.
However, while reports indicate that the athletes are being shown a demo of Call of Duty 2023, it seems they’re all only getting to play Warzone.

It’s a strange form of marketing, but it’s worth noting that Activision likes to put on similar events each summer.
Usually, professional sports players getting their hands on the game early are a great source of blurry images of an upcoming COD title. In fact, just last year we got our first DMZ screenshots leak because of a similar showcase to NFL players.
This time, however, it looks like those hoping for an early glimpse of the game appear to be out of luck.

Could the fact that the players aren’t actually able to play the new game yet be a sign that COD 2023 is behind schedule? Or a demo being shown off mean that the new title’s reveal trailer is just around the corner?
We’ll have to wait to find out.
