Call of Duty 2021 Teased in Black Ops Cold War Zombies Outbreak Mode

Fans believe that they may have found a tease for Call of Duty 2021 inside Black Ops Cold War Zombies' new Outbreak mode.

With Call of Duty having a yearly release schedule, it's almost time for Activision to begin marketing for COD 2021. After all, despite several more seasons being expected for Black Ops Cold War, it's only around 8 months until the next game's release.

Already, we've seen hints that indicate who will be developing Call of Duty 2021. And now, fans believe that we're getting hints at the next game's setting, inside Cold War's new Outbreak mode.

Recently, a major leaker teased that Call of Duty 2021 would feature Guerilla Warfare. Now, it seems that this new tease might be showing fans the true setting for the next COD title.

Call of Duty 2021 Teasing WW2 Setting

According to a new letter appearing in Black Ops Cold War's Outbreak mode, Call of Duty 2021 could be returning to WW2.

This checks out, given that a reliable leaker recently confirmed a World War 2 setting for COD 2021.

The letter in question can be found in the Ruka map of Cold War Zombies' Outbreak mode. Dated March 15, 1944, the paper refers to sending corpses of soldiers to Mittelburg in Bavaria.

Those who were fans of Sledgehammer Games' Call of Duty WW2 may know this as the location of The Final Reich map for the title's Zombies mode.

"I have taken your renewed request seriously, but it hurts me to repeat myself, Commander. The bodies of the deceased soldiers, regardless of their position and condition, must be transported immediately to Mittelburg, Bavaria."

It seems strange for a letter like this to be turning up in Cold War, given its odd storyline implications. It doesn't seem to make much sense for a note like this to be here, unless it's to do with the upcoming return to WW2 in COD 2021.

More COD 2021 Details Revealed

Now that storylines are converging in Warzone, it could be that we see an explanation for all these merging timelines in the battle royale. After all, Zombies are now spreading around the Warzone map as well.

That said, other fans believe that this could simply be a re-used asset, carelessly inserted into the new Zombies experience.

Here's when Call of Duty 2021 will officially be announced, putting our theories to rest at long last.

Interestingly, COD 2021 was originally thought to be WW3-themed, something that may now be debunked.

And a new leak suggests that Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Remastered is also coming in 2021! If this proves correct, it's shaping up to be a great year for COD fans.
