Blastoise Pokemon Unite Release Date Announced

Looking for a new main? Blastoise now has an official release date for Pokemon Unite!

Ever since Pokemon Unite first released a little over a month ago, we’ve been waiting for news about Blastoise. After all, the popular Gen 1 Water starter has been clearly visible in the game files since launch.

In the game’s tutorial mode, you can even see a Squirtle in action, to the best of our recollection. And while Venusaur and Charizard have taken center stage, it’s finally time for Blastoise to join in the Pokemon Unite fun.

But where will Blastoise stack up on the official Pokemon Unite Tier List for August 2021? We’ll have to wait and find out.

Pokemon Unite Blastoise Release Date

Our final Gen 1 starter, Blastoise, will arrive in Pokemon Unite on September 1.

This news comes courtesy of the game’s official Twitter account, which posted a very short but sweet announcement. The tweet was accompanied by our first footage of Blastoise in action in Pokemon Unite.

From what we can tell from the new trailer, Blastoise is set to be an excellent Defender. As expected, the Pokemon acts like quite the tank in-game, with abilities focussed around protecting its team and dealing decent damage.

We also see Blastoise making heavy use of its two water cannons, something that’s nice to see after years of Pokemon games under-using them in animations. Moves like Rapid Spin and Surf will be a big part of Blastoise’s best build, no doubt.

For Blastoise’s Unite Move, Hydro Typhoon, the Pokemon spins in place while blasting water from both of its cannons.

Blastoise isn’t the only Pokemon soon to arrive in-game either! Here are the next 2 Pokemon coming to Pokemon Unite in future updates!

Going off the current pattern, we’ll be seeing the next new character around mid-September! But by then, expect some more big Pokemon Unite balance patches to drop.
