If you’re hoping to use the Blades of Chaos in God of War Ragnarok, you may have to wait a while. Fortunately, getting them is incredibly easy.
These swords are Kratos’ most iconic weapon, and while they appear in the early hours of God of War Ragnarok, players can’t actually use them.
So, it’s understandable that many may be wondering how they can unlock them. Fortunately, we’ve got all the answers, and it’s really easy to do.
How to Unlock the Blades of Chaos in God of War Ragnarok
You unlock the Blades of Chaos automatically after defeating Thor for the first time in God of War Ragnarok.
Players can use them around 1 hour into the game, based on the ‘Give Me Balance’ difficulty.
You won’t have to do anything to access them. Kratos just decides to pick them up after fighting with Thor and takes them with him afterward.

Unfortunately, this does mean that for about an hour, you’ll be without these incredibly powerful weapons. However, you won’t do too much fighting during this time, so don’t worry too much.

How to Use the Blades of Chaos in God of War Ragnarok
After unlocking them, to equip the Blades of Chaos in God of War Ragnarok, you just need to press left on the D-Pad. From there, just press R1 for a light attack, R2 for a heavy attack, and L2 + R2 to aim and throw them.
You can use them in combat against enemies, and they’re the only weapon effective against Hel-Raiders and other such frozen enemies.

They’re also useful for removing branches that are in your way or for latching onto distant objects and pulling yourself towards them. In both cases, aiming with L2 and then throwing with R2 will do the trick.
After throwing you won’t need to pick them up though as they’re attached via chains wrapped around his arms.
What Are the Blades of Chaos in God of War Ragnarok?
The Blades of Chaos are one of the weapons that Kratos can use to fight enemies and clear obstacles.
They’re short swords covered in deadly flames that are particularly adept at defeating ice-based enemies.
Kratos has been using them since the very first God of War game, so it’s hard to see why they’re so iconic.
