In the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Beta, fans were introduced to Treyarch’s new Kill Order mode – and not all players enjoyed their time with it.
The Black Ops 6 Beta was a great chance for the Call of Duty community to try out this year’s release ahead of its official launch on October 25.
It was also a great chance to see what’s different this time around, with fans feeling largely positive about Treyarch’s new Omnimovement system.
But, as is to be expected, not every new addition will be to everybody’s taste. And in the case of Kill Order, a game mode that has players protecting a High-Value Target (HVT), some fans are reporting that they look forward to never playing it again.
Black Ops 6 Kill Order Gets Mixed Reviews
The Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 introduced us to Kill Order, an elimination-based mode that requires players to kill the opposing team’s HVT while protecting their own.
For those who want a full breakdown of how exactly Kill Order works, we’ve got you covered. Otherwise, here’s a basic overview:

Players get one point for each enemy Operator kill, but the HVT receives two points for each kill they acquire. However, kill the enemy High-Value Target, and you earn a whopping five points, making them the priority.
HVTs are randomly assigned from among your team members, and get both extra armor and a permanent personal UAV overhead to help keep them alive.
However, as is often the case in COD matchmaking, fans found that most users seem to run off and abandon their team leader without a thought.
What’s even more frustrating is when the HVT itself decides to beeline it into the line of fire, scoring the enemy team an easy five points.
On top of frustrations with the player base, fans also point out that Kill Order can be highly unbalanced.
After all, a coordinated group of Operators who manage to get their HVT into the basement on Skyline and set up a Trophy System will almost certainly win.
While several Reddit users over on the Black Ops 6 subreddit are leaving favorable comments in support of Kill Order, it’s clear that some tuning could be implemented prior to the game’s release.
For one, the constant stream of announcer voicelines could use some adjusting:
