There's a new Black Ops Cold War bug that is making players lose XP in-game. Here's what we know so far:
If you've noticed your XP going down after or during a game of Black Ops Cold War, you're not alone. A new bug might actually be decreasing both overall and weapon XP for players, suggests new evidence.
Some players have been reporting seeing unlocks occur multiple times. For example, you might rank up to Prestige in one game, and then find you're not quite there when back in the menu.
A similar thing is happening with weapon camos and attachments too. Players may see new unlocks pop up in-game, and then discover their XP is lower than expected later on.
Losing XP in Black Ops Cold War
According to new posts on the Black Ops Cold War subreddit, players now appear to have evidence of XP loss. One Reddit user shares an image of their XP level changing over time.
From what we can see, the Black Ops Cold War player was Rank 36 after a game of Zombies. However, when returning to the main menu, Rank 33 is displays in the top right of the screen.
Another clear example is seen in the following post, which is gaining traction online. In it, the user sets out to prove that Cold War players lose XP over time.
When playing a game of Cold War Zombies, user Difficult-Rest8524 displays their weapon XP. We can clearly see the progress bar for their chosen gun is right at the end of rank 29.
After spending some time running around the map and even killing a few zombies, the player checks their XP bar once again. However, upon this second investigation, the weapon XP bar has actually decreased.
This is particularly frustrating, given that leveling up weapons is so slow in Black Ops Cold War. We've got the best way to level up weapons in Black Ops Cold War, but it may not matter if this bug persists.
True, right now players can get double XP and double weapon XP for Christmas in Cold War and Warzone. And starting from tomorrow, Treyarch is offering double Cold War Battle Pass XP to help get some value out of Season 1.
Players should take advantage of this new opportunity, particularly if their weapon XP is decreasing. After all, the Black Ops Cold War Season 1 Battle Pass contains the new best gun in Warzone.
Hopefully Treyarch will come out with a new XP fix soon. However, we reckon the developer has spent too much time making incredible Cold War Mastercraft weapons.
And as a result, issues like this and the new Black Ops Cold War reloading bug are slipping through the cracks.
