After weeks of waiting, Black Ops Cold War and Warzone Season 3 is almost here, and we’re finally getting an early look at the upcoming content drop.
It’s been a very disappointing Season 2 for Warzone players especially. But even Black Ops Cold War fans didn’t like the lack of content in this season.
Thankfully, it looks like a much more interesting Season 3 is on the way! And now we have the early patch notes for Black Ops Cold War and Warzone Season 3, ahead of an official release!
Table of contents
Black Ops Cold War Update 1.16 and Warzone 1.36 – What’s New in Season 3?
If you were paying close attention, you’ll have already seen this iconic Warzone and Cold War Season 3 Operator leak! We can now identify the soldier as Wraith, an ex-Norwegian Intelligence Services turned Persues agent.
Wraith will be our Battle Pass Operator this time around, with an exclusive Tier 100 skin waiting to be unlocked.
On top of that, we’re getting fellow Perseus operator ‘Knight’, who is a former Irish M16 wetworks operative. This Operator will be coming as an in-season bundle.
And when it comes to in-season drops, Black Ops Cold War and Warzone isn’t done yet. Ex-hitman Antonov is joining the Warsaw Pact, attempting to make up for his former crimes.
But most excitingly, none other than Captain Price himself is joining the Black Ops Cold War team. A 1984 variant of Captain Price is coming to any user who owns or purchases Black Ops Cold War at the beginning of Season 3.
“Simply log into Black Ops Cold War following the Season Three Update to add Price ’84 to your roster of elite Operators. You will need to go online in Black Ops Cold War first before he appears as a playable character in Warzone.”
It looks like the meta of Black Ops Cold War and Warzone is about to get a bit crazier. That’s thanks to the 6 new weapons that are coming alongside the Season 3 update.
In launch week, we can enjoy the PPSh-41 SMG, a high-capacity, rapid-fire weapon. This gun will be unlockable at Tier 15 of the Season 3 battle pass.
We also have another new sniper rifle, the Swiss K31 at launch. The bolt-action weapon boasts fast rechamber and aiming speeds, and large ammo capacity.
We wonder how this will stack up against Warzone Season 2’s best sniper loadout.
Excitingly, the fan-favorite Black Ops Ballistic Knife weapon is also returning! Thanks to spring-action technology, you can enjoy shooting a knife from long-range for an instant kill.
The Ballistic Knife is coming to Black Ops Cold War at launch, but Warzone mid-season.
Then, when it comes to in-season drops, the CARV.2 is Black Ops Cold War and Warzone’s newest tactical rifle. This gun will have high damage and bullet velocity, as well as decent firepower, solid recoil control, and a large ammo pool.
Frankly, it sounds like the CARV.2 can do anything well, and you could partner it alongside the new AMP63 pistol for excellent results. The upcoming sidearm is a cross between a pistol and an SMG, with full-auto capacity.
Warzone fans may not be happy to know that there’s another full-auto pistol coming to Warzone mid-season 3.
And if all those weapons weren’t enough, we’re also getting a Baseball Bat melee weapon to add to Cold War’s roster. This is sure to be a favorite of those who enjoy Black Ops Cold War Zombies modes.
When it comes to new Multiplayer maps, there are 4 to choose from this time around. In launch week, Black Ops Cold War players can enjoy fighting in the Soviet observatory of Mount Yamantau.
Both Yamantau and the new Diesel map can be played 6v6, but the latter also lends itself to 2v2 and 3v3 content. Diesel is set in the American desert, with fast-paced action around a gas station and its surrounding buildings.
Then, in-season, we’ll also be getting a new Black Ops 2 remastered map. Standoff is the latest map revamp to join the Black Ops Cold War roster in Season 3.
And on top of that, Duga will take multi-team games back to the Ural Mountains. And if you can’t wait to explore the map for yourself, you’re in luck.
After all, Duga is coming to Black Ops Cold War Zombies’ Outbreak mode before it’s playable in online Multiplayer!
Call of Duty fans rejoice – the iconic Stick and Stones game mode is returning in Black Ops Cold War Season 3. This classic mode has players deploy with a crossbow and Ballistic Knife, alongside a Tomahawk lethal equipment.
Get points with your standard weapons or bankrupt a player to zero with your Tomahawk for the ultimate disrespect.
We also have Multi-Team Elimination dropping mid-season, where players compete to be the last team standing. Redploys are limited and loadouts are restricted as teams battle it out alongside expanding Radiation Zones.
Board the exfil chipper or eliminate your competition for good to be declared the winner!
Somehow after months of waiting, we’re still not getting Black Ops Cold War’s Flamethrower Scorestreak! Instead, Strafe Run is the latest addition to your loadouts.
A pair of fighter jets rain down fire and rockets on your mark, with this mid-tier Scorestreak. Its active period is reportedly longer than streaks like Napalm, making it a perfect cover for you as you capture the objective.
Catch a brand-new ride with these additions to Black Ops Cold War! The Cargo Truck is coming at launch to Multi-Team and Outbreak modes, fitting multiple Operators in its open truck bed.
You won’t be traveling fast, but you will be traveling in style as the Cargo Truck boasts an impressive mounted machine gun to blast away enemies.
The FAV (Fast Attack Vehicle) on the other hand, is perfect for speedily racing to your objectives. Again backing a mounted gun, this vehicle is exclusively coming to Outbreak mode.
New Zombies Outbreak Content
It doesn’t look like there’s a new major Black Ops Cold War Zombies map coming at the start of Season 3. However, new region Duga will be joining the Outbreak mode.
Alongside your new weapons and vehicles, expect a brand new Season 3 Field Upgrade to use! Toxic Growth will summon an army of thorns ahead of your Operator.
Not only does this Field Upgrade half the movement speed of enemies, but it also causes toxic damage to the undead. Upgrade Toxic Growth with Aetherium Crystals to double damage, increase charges, and even cause enemies to explode!
There are also new Easter eggs to uncover in Black Ops Cold War Zombies’ Outbreak mode! New interactive events will give players in-game rewards, and we can’t wait to see what this entails.
In fact, there’s even a new rewarding Easter egg in Outbreak a little early!
We already know that we’ll finally be able to upgrade the D.I.E. Wonder Weapon in Outbreak mode. On top of that, players can no destroy Fury Crystals to unlock the powerful Aether Tool, and it’s even possible to “discover the secret to warping ahead to higher difficulty regions even faster.”
Knowing Treyarch, there’s even more mystery hiding in Outbreak mode, and we’ll keep our eyes open for new secrets.
Massive Warzone Event – Operation Rapid Sunder
After the slow-moving zombie invasion is finally complete, Warzone players have a big event to look forward to. Activision is keeping things mysterious for now but we do have new information to share.
The next Warzone event, Operation Rapid Sunder, will be taking place on 12 PM PT, April 21. According to the Call of Duty blog, that’s when we’ll next year about the event officially.
It looks like this could be a week-long event, as its recommended that you “clear your schedule for the week and ready yourself for a crescendo of utter chaos within the Warzone.”
According to rumors, here’s what we can expect for Warzone’s big event! And things will come to head with a nuke destroying Warzone’s Verdansk map completely!
The Warzone and Black Ops Cold War Season 3 roadmap reveals that the ‘Hunt for Adler’ event is also coming to both games at launch. Here’s what we know about the Hunt for Adler in Warzone so far.
