The R1 Shadowhunter Crossbow is easier to unlock than ever in Black Ops Cold War for some players, as an apology for earlier issues.
Recently, the Crossbow has been all that players are talking about in Black Ops Cold War. The R1 Shadowhunter Crossbow is a lot of fun to use in Cold War, being one of the best additions to the game in recent history.
However, despite some players enjoying the new Cold War Crossbow early, Treyarch wasn't happy with the accidental release. As a result, the Cold War developer removed the R1 Shadowhunter from the game, but only for some users.
Right now, some players still have their Crossbow in-game, and others don't. But when the popular weapon returns to the game in Black Ops Cold War Season 2 Reloaded, it looks like Treyarch is making things easier for certain players to unlock it.
If you aren't already aware, Black Ops Cold War's Crossbow is completely overpowered in-game. But it's so fun to use that we hope it stays this way when it returns.
How to Unlock the R1 Shadowhunter Crossbow in Black Ops Cold War
Here's how to unlock the R1 Shadowhunter Crossbow in Black Ops Cold War, when it returns to the game.
To unlock the R1 Shadowhunter Crossbow in Cold War, you'll need to complete the following challenge:
"Using a weapon with no attachments, get 3 One Shot, One Kill medals in 15 different matches".
This is most practical with either a Sniper Rifle or Shotgun, and is easiest to accomplish on maps like Nuketown '84. However, if you were one of the players who grinded it out already, only to have their new weapon snatched away when the Crossbow was removed, you're in luck.
There's no way to get the R1 Shadowhunter in-game right now, but you can still try the new Cold War crossbow for yourself right here.
Updating Cold War's Trello board, Treyarch reveals that the R1 Shadowhunter will be returning at a later date. And players that already unlocked the Cold War Crossbow won't have to repeat the challenge.
They will, however, begin at 14/15 challenges complete. Therefore, in theory, it'll only take one game before the Cold War fans can easily unlock the Crossbow once again.
What's more, the board reports that "Players who previously unlocked the R1 Shadowhunter will retain their camo progress."
It's not as great as giving back the weapon for free but it's something. It doesn't appear to affect those players who still have their Crossbow, however.
On that same Trello board, Black Ops Cold War's developer is issuing refunds to some users, thanks to an issue.
