Black Ops Cold War Servers Are Down on New Year’s Day

It seems that Black Ops Cold War is starting off 2021 with an outage as servers go down on New Year’s Day.

It’s the first day of a new year but we’re still dealing with the same old issues. It seems that Black Ops Cold War is getting its first server problems of the year out of the way early in 2021.

We’re barely into the first day of the year and already Black Ops Cold War servers are down. Many players report that they’re getting disconnects from Cold War servers, across all platforms.

This comes following the new Black Ops Cold War update that adds a new Operator and weapon to the game.

Black Ops Cold War New Year’s Day Server Outage

At the time of writing, it appears that Black Ops Cold War servers are experiencing issues on both console and PC.

An alert on the Activision Support website appears to confirm that the game is “experiencing connectivity issues.” An orange “Outage” alert can also be found on the Online Services page.

Our Black Ops Cold War Server Status page is detecting increased issues connecting to the game. And many online users are taking their complaints directly to the publisher this holiday weekend.

When Will Black Ops Cold War Servers Be Fixed?

Usually, these Black Ops Cold War server outages don’t last for too long. However, it’s especially unfortunate that this is happening on Cold War’s New Years Double XP weekend.

Some players on Reddit also report that the issues took place shortly after they made use of a Double Weapon XP token. Unfortunately, these tokens count down whether you’re in-game or not, making players very annoyed.

It’s likely that users won’t be reimbursed for their missed XP when the servers come back online. And players will need to continue their grind to unlock the Black Ops Cold War sledgehammer fast from where they left off.

We’re sure that Activision is working on a fix right now, but neither the publisher nor Treyarch has acknowledged the issue publically just yet. Instead, Treyarch chose to tease a new perk for Black Ops Cold War Zombies.

And that’s not the only exciting tease to come from Twitter recently. In a message wishing fans Happy New Year, Sledgehammer Games may have teased COD 2021.
