Black Ops Cold War is gearing up for its first official season, and now we’re getting our first look at gameplay on the new Rebirth Island map for Warzone.
With just days to go until the release of Black Ops Cold War’s Season 1, Treyarch releases a brand-new trailer for the upcoming content. In it, we finally get our first look at what the new Warzone map will look like in action.
After 9 months of the same Verdansk Warzone map, players have been waiting for a change. Now, Activision is finally delivering, with a new battle royale arena dropping alongside Cold War’s first season.

We were right in our predictions that the new Warzone map is Rebirth Island from the original Black Ops storyline. But this is the first time we’ve actually seen the location back in action.
New Black Ops Cold War Season 1 Trailer Shows off New Warzone Map
The new trailer for Black Ops Cold War Season 1 is here, and it starts with a new look at Rebirth Island from the air. Adler, Woods, and the new Black Ops Cold War operators join the fight in Warzone, dropping into the map from above.
As ever, players will choose a place to land, loot up, and fight to be the last man standing. However, if the trailer is anything to go by, Warzone is getting more action-packed than ever before.

With new Black Ops Cold War Season 1 weapons joining the fight, there’s a lot to experience. However, we still don’t know how these weapons will stack up to Modern Warfare’s firearms.
It appears that the smaller map will lead to a more hectic battlefield. However, despite Rebirth Island making for a smaller Warzone on the surface, it looks like players will be able to delve into underground tunnels as well.

This might even be necessary, as helicopters boasting some serious firepower will be present in the air. It looks like Warzone’s leaked new RC-XD killstreaks will also be coming to Rebirth Island.
Very little of the new Warzone map is open area, which means that close-quarters combat will be a big part of the gameplay. However, Black Ops 4 fans are pointing out some similarities to past content.
The Return of Alcatraz
From what we can see, Treyarch is reusing a lot of assets from its Alcatraz map. Those who played the original Call of Duty battle royale, Blackout, are understandably annoyed about the decision.
Instead of bringing out a new fully-fledged Warzone map, it appears that we’re getting re-used content with a few changes here and there. What’s more, the Cold War Warzone integration may not even be a full-size battle royale.
In October, new footage of what looked to be the Cold War map for Warzone leaked online. However, this appears to not be coming as part of the upcoming Season 1 expansion, and we don’t know if a full new Warzone experience will ever arrive.
By all accounts, Rebirth Island looks to be a mini battle royale, much like past Limited Time Modes. We imagine that the main player base will still prefer to drop into Verdansk for their battle royale fix.
Blackout’s resurfacing can be seen in more than one place too. In fact, several Cold War fans are being met with the notice that their free ‘Blackout trial’ has ended, when booting up the game.
