Playing the objective in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War doesn't seem very rewarding, leaving many players frustrated.
Every year, a new Call of Duty is released. And every year, fans seems to have a bevy of complaints about that year's particular release.
Last year with Modern Warfare, it was map design and a short time-to-kill that encouraged camping. Group spawning was also a problem, leading to instances of one team trapping the other team in one area of the map.
This year, however, it seems that one of the main complaints players have has to do with how individual scoring works in objective game types such as Hardpoint and Kill Confirmed.
What's The Problem?
Numerous players on Reddit have taken issue with the fact that no matter how dedicated you are to playing the objective, someone that gets more kills always seems to finish higher on the end game scoreboard.
This understandably makes players feel like there's no point in playing the objective if it's not incentivized properly. And at that point, every game type starts to feel like TDM.
Black Ops Cold War went back to a Scorestreak system this year. This means that players not only earn points towards rewards by getting kills, but by doing other things as well. Points even carry over after dying.
However, that's not the problem. The issue is that there's a score multiplier for going on a Killstreak, but no multiplier for consistently playing the objective.
What's The Solution?
Some players have suggested making objectives count into the Killstreak multiplier. This way, objective-oriented players can be rewarded just the same as players who just want to frag.
This change would also encourage play styles that are more appropriate for the particular objective mode that you're playing.
Using Domination as an example, multiple Reddit users suggested that capturing multiple flags in a row should increase the multiplier on each successive capture.
The solution seems simple, and there are other problems with Scorestreaks as well, but only time will tell if Treyarch actually listens to their community.
