Yesterday, Infinity Ward added three new Multiplayer maps to Modern Warfare, and Black Ops Cold War fans are already angry.
The Call of Duty community is never truly happy, but it's very good at being upset. Now, fans of Treyarch's Black Ops Cold War are angry at 2019's Modern Warfare getting new maps.
There's long been a divide between fans of Black Ops Cold War and Modern Warfare. After all, many users were annoyed at Cold War's forced integration with Modern Warfare at launch.
And there are many users who consider Black Ops Cold War to be a downgrade from Modern Warfare. On top of that, there's the occasional argument about whether Cold War or Modern Warfare has worse camping problems.
To say there's a rift between the two fanbases is an understatement - and now it's the Cold War community's turn to be angry.
Modern Warfare Got More New Maps Than Black Ops Cold War
In yesterday's surprise update, Modern Warfare got more 6v6 Multiplayer maps than Black Ops Cold War did in Season 2 Reloaded.
Modern Warfare fans were shocked to discover that the 2019 title is still getting content, with 3 new maps dropping all of a sudden. Killhouse, a returning map from COD 4: Modern Warfare is now available in a 24/7 playlist.
On top of that, 6v6 map Al-Raab Airbase and Gunfight map Drainage also join the game's map roster - albeit only in Private Matches.
Over in Black Ops Cold War, we just had a major Season 2 Reloaded update. And yet, Modern Warfare actually got more new 6v6 content than Treyarch's title.
Interestingly though, both Black Ops Cold War and Modern Warfare have less 6v6 Multiplayer content than any other COD game.
Taking a look at everything new in Black Ops Cold War Season 2 Reloaded, you'll see that the only new 6v6 map in Cold War is a cropped version of Miami. And while Miami Strike is a bright addition to Black Ops Cold War, it's not enough to satisfy standard Multiplayer fans.
"Lol @ 3Arc for being so hopelessly lazy," writes one fan on the Black Ops Cold War subreddit. "Too busy nerfing AR attachments and creating 76 new MTX bundles or some shit to nickel and dime everyone some more."
Meanwhile, on the Modern Warfare subreddit, users are discussing what this new content means for their favorite game.
"They are killing Warzone with no weapon balancing for 3 months and we get a new content for MW?" user paulmonterro writes. "The deal I can take anytime."
The Reddit user makes a valid point, as Warzone Season 2 Reloaded is the worst patch of all time.
On the other hand though, these Modern Warfare maps have been ready for quite some time, according to leaks. And still there's no release date for the new weapons that were ready to release with Modern Warfare Season 7.
However, we do think we know when Soap MacTavish will release as an Operator in Warzone at long last.
