After a major kerfuffle this past week, Call of Duty has now announced the official release date of the R1 Crossbow for Black Ops Cold War.
The R1 Shadowhunter crossbow has had a rocky introduction to Black Ops Cold War so far.
Fans have been excited to get their hands on it since its introduction in Cold War's huge Season Two update. After using the crossbow in Warzone, players have been excited to take it into the hectic smaller games.
But, the introduction of the crossbow hasn't exactly been as smooth as Treyarch may have hoped. The weapon accidentally dropped early and stayed on the CoD store for a few hours before being taken down.
Some players who managed to get a hold of the R1 Shadowhunter got to keep it, while others had it stripped from them. It's infuriating fans and has effectively killed the hype for the weapon.
It's especially frustrating, as one player has shown off their hugely overpowered crossbow in Zombies, and it's the ultimate killing machine.
But now, thankfully, we have an official release date for the R1 Shadowhunter crossbow. And it's soon.
R1 Shadowhunter Crossbow Release Date
Finally, we have a reveal for the release date of the R1 Shadowhunter crossbow. It has been announced in a blog post on the Call of Duty website.
It is revealed that the R1 Shadowhunter Crossbow will be rejoining Black Ops Cold War on March 24th. That's tomorrow!
It's an exciting announcement, as those of us who didn't have the chance to grab it finally have our opportunity. But many who managed to get a hold of it are wondering if their progression will carry over.
Well, it's been revealed that if you've already completed the challenge to unlock the weapon, you won't have to do so much work to get it back.
Will My Crossbow Challenge Progress Reset?
The challenge to unlock the R1 Shadowhunter required players to get three "one shot, one kill" medals using a weapon with no attachments, in 15 different games. It's a challenge that takes a lot of work, and those who have already completed it, have lost their prize.
But, if you'd already completed the challenge before its removal, Treyarch is making unlocking the Crossbow easier for some players
It's a fair balancing act, and one that won't take too much trouble to complete. Once the weapon drops, jump back into a game and earn that beauty back!
The Crossbow's grand return isn't the only thing to be excited about in Cold War; Season Two Reloaded is finally on the way. A leak has suggested Season Two Reloaded's release date and file size.
Plus, this week could bring some exciting new Zombies Outbreak news. A new Outbreak map is coming to the game mode, and players expect more news this week.
