Here’s a look at all the teaser images that Treyarch has shown off for its upcoming Black Ops 6 Zombies map: The Tomb!
Call of Duty fans are eating good in 2025, at least where Zombies is concerned! Black Ops 6 already has three incredible round-based experiences for players to enjoy in-game, and another one is dropping sooner than we believed possible!
Treyarch has now confirmed that our fourth Zombies map, The Tomb, will arrive on January 28, 2025, alongside the release of Season 2.
And while we’re yet to learn everything there is to know about the upcoming map, we’ve already received a handful of teaser images, giving us a look at what we can expect.
The Tomb Teaser Images
In-Game Screenshot
Our first official look at The Tomb dropped in a special blog post released on 115 Day, Activision’s annual celebration of the COD Zombies universe.
This image shows an actual in-game screenshot of The Tomb, presumably showcasing the archeological dig site on the map’s surface.
It appears that we’ll be delving into the depths of the excavation to uncover the secrets of the Sentinel Artifact. With that in mind, this is more than likely the map’s spawn area, which means we’ll be seeing a lot of it in the early rounds of The Tomb!
Sir Archibald’s Photograph #1
Most of The Tomb teaser images we’ve received so far come courtesy of Sir Archibald Fotherington-Smythe, who conducted an excavation of the site back in 1908.
The 115 blog post reveals that nobody knows what became of him, but a series of photographs from his ‘doomed expedition’ have begun to surface.

The second teaser photograph showcases a stone staircase leading into a larger, underground cavern.
The writing on the image references an unknown ‘Alistair,’ who appears to have guided Sir Archibald to locate the dig site.

Over on social media site X (formerly Twitter), Treyarch released one more teaser image that provides an interesting clue about The Tomb’s history.
It appears that Sir Archibald discovered evidence of ‘occupation by a much later culture,’ which the researcher believes could be related to the Cult of Mithras.
This real cult was a Roman religion, following the god Mithras (god of light, oath, and truth), and often met in underground temples known as mithraea.
Given the appropriate location, perhaps Sir Archibald is onto something!

It appears that The Tomb isn’t as straightforward as the initial teasers would have us believe. The fourth photograph taken by Sir Archibald references a ‘non-Euclidian space’ within, beneath alien skies.
What’s particularly interesting is that this image looks very similar to Awakening, the fourth Extinction map of COD: Ghosts.
Awakening also took place underground, in an infested hive of Cryptids, where players were once again looking for a special artifact of great power.
We feel it’s unlikely that Treyarch will be returning to the Ghosts storyline in any way, but it’s certainly interesting how similar the image looks to this former map.
Dig Site Above Ground
When the official Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 2 blog post arrived, it had a number of new, exciting screenshots to share.
The first new screenshot showcased these new looks at the above-ground section of the map!
A Look at the New Staff of Ice
One of the most exciting additions to Black Ops 6 in Season 2 is its ‘new’ Wonder Weapon.
For those who played Black Ops 2, you may recognize the Staff of Ice from the Origins map, where it was one of four elemental Wonder Weapons.
The Dark Aether Returns
Down in the depths of The Tomb, a strange ‘door to nowhere’ will take us back to the Dark Aether once again.
We don’t know much about what to expect from the dark dimension this time around, but it almost certainly ties into the Main Quest Easter Egg. Likely, this is where we’ll discover the Sentinel Artifact, or perhaps even Sir Archibald himself!
