Call of Duty’s ongoing collaboration with Netflix’s Squid Game just got a big change to its Dead Light, Green Light Zombies mode.
Black Ops 6’s first major collaboration was a surprise to many, but the popularity of the South Korean survival thriller is impossible to deny.
Partnering up with Netflix, Activision introduced a variety of Squid Game-themed cosmetics and game modes to Black Ops 6 at the start of January.
And now, finally, the Squid Game Zombies mode is actually worth playing.
Dead Light, Green Light Changes in Black Ops 6 Zombies
After listening to fan feedback, Treyarch has finally changed the Black Ops 6 Zombies mode Dead Light, Green Light round cap, increasing the number of playable waves from 20 to 50.
While at launch, fans of the mode could only play until Round 10 before an Exfil would automatically activate, Treyarch increased the cap to Round 20 on January 9.
“Starting today, we’ve added Liberty Falls to the map selection and extended the round cap to 20,” the Jan 9 patch notes read. “After that, we’ll plan Week 3’s round cap extension based on how crazy the community wants the challenge to get.”
Well, it appears that the community wanted quite the challenge indeed! Now, as of January 19, Dead Light, Green Light players can now grind all the way until Round 50 on the Liberty Falls map!
In our experience, Squid Game Zombies mode used to cut off just as things were starting to get fun, after you finally managed to get together enough points to Pack-a-Punch your weapon a couple of times and grab some Perks.
Now, players will be able to continue their favorite runs – though not indefinitely. And only, it appears, on Liberty Falls.
Of course, it’s hard enough getting to Round 20 in the Squid Game Zombies mode, which requires players to stand in place whenever Young-hee calls ‘Red Light.’
If players move while Young-hee is watching, they’ll rapidly lose valuable Essence. Thankfully, players do receive bonus Essence for all points earned while ‘Green Light’ is active.
But it’s the dreaded ‘Dead Light’ call that you need to watch out for. During these special phases, the undead will get far more aggressive and much more difficult to kill.
Thankfully, you need only survive these waves until the time runs out, rather than being forced to eliminate a buffed zombie horde!
