Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is yet to announce what its fifth Zombies map looks like, but we likely already know both its setting and Wonder Weapon.
At the conclusion of The Tomb’s storyline, the ex-Requiem crew is asked to head back to S.A.M. at the mansion in Liberty Falls.
This mansion, some might remember from the Liberty Falls opening cutscene, was home to Edward Richtofen, who will surely be making an appearance again soon.
And if the next map ends up taking place at that setting, we probably already know what Wonder Weapon Treyarch has in store for us!
The Next Wonder Weapon
If the next Black Ops 6 Zombies map ends up being the Liberty Falls mansion we saw in the launch map’s opening cutscene (and it certainly looks that way), then it’s likely that the Wunderwaffe DG-2 will be our next Wonder Weapon!
The end cutscenes for both Terminus and Citadelle des Morts hinted at the setting of the subsequent map, so it seems likely that the Liberty Falls mansion is our next stop.
When the outbreak begins in the Liberty Fall’s cinematic, we see Richtofen grab the weapon he invented, the Wunderwaffe DG-2, and begin battling the undead.
And crucially, when Richtofen gets teleported away by S.A.M. in the final moments of the cinematic, the Wonder Weapon is left behind.
The purple smoke that enveloped the longtime Zombies antagonist also appears to smash the Wunderwaffe’s tesla power tubes, which likely means it’ll need some repairing if we come across it in the mansion.
The Fan Response
But as iconic as the Wunderwaffe DG-2 is, it doesn’t seem to be getting fans excited. In fact, some users seem to be unhappy at the thought of getting their hands on the Wonder Weapon once again.
For some Zombies fans, that’s the issue: the Wunderwaffe has already made too many appearances throughout COD Zombies history.
“I really don’t want the [Wunderwaffe],” Reddit user Kobyak writes. “Despite nostalgia, its seriously is a pretty dull weapon to use and clearly has had its day.”
Since appearing in Shi No Numa back in World at War, the Wunderwaffe DG-2 has cropped up again in Call of Duty: Black Ops 1, 3 & 4, as well as Vanguard and Modern Warfare 3.
Other fans take issue with Black Ops 6’s recent recycling of Wonder Weapons, with the Jet Gun and Staff of Ice returning alongside the series staple Ray Gun.
Of course, it’s worth noting that both returning Wonder Weapons did receive a nice upgrade in Black Ops 6 Zombies, and we’re sure the Wunderwaffe would get similar treatment.
We can certainly see the issue with bringing back another older Wonder Weapon, however. If the Wunderwaffe does return, it’d be the fourth returning weapon to feature in the game, while we only have two completely brand-new Wonder Weapons.
