Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 just announced a delay to its Season 3 update and as a result, we can be almost certain that our next Zombies map is now further away.
Fans of COD Zombies have a lot to enjoy in Black Ops 6 already. After all, the game released with two round-based survival maps, and has gone on to acquire two more as part of its post-launch content drops.
But now our next Zombies map has been officially delayed, as Activision announces a new release date for the Black Ops 6 Season 3 update.
Black Ops 6 Season 3 Delay
Over on social media site X (formerly Twitter), the official Call of Duty account announced that Black Ops 6 and Warzone Season 3 would be delayed from its March 20 release date.
Instead, the eagerly-awaited update will arrive exactly two weeks later, on April 3, 2025.
According to Activision, this delay was necessary in order to “deliver a great experience” when the new season update goes live.
For many fans, the highlight of Season 3 is the long-teased return of Verdansk, Warzone’s original Battle Royale map.
For months, the Call of Duty BR has been suffering from dwindling player counts, a rise of cheaters, and a lack of interest from fans in general, it’s likely that Activision sees Verdansk’s return as a way to pull back older fans – and it doesn’t want to mess up the opportunity.
But, seeing as all COD content is tied together, this unfortunately means that our next Black Ops 6 Zombies map is also being pushed back.
Is There a Zombies Map in Season 3?
Although Treyarch has not yet announced a new Zombies experience dropping in Black Ops 6 Season 3, leaks indicate that a map is on the way in the major update.
Recently, one reliable leaker stated that all future seasons but one will offer a new Zombies map.
We also got a full breakdown of all new content in Zombies Season 3, revealing our new map, Perk, Field Upgrade, and Ammo Mod for the major update.
Those who completed The Tomb’s Main Quest will already know that the Zombies Crew is returning to Liberty Falls, to infuse the newly-acquired Sentinel Artifact with unique materials that can only be harvested in the West Virginian town.
It appears that the Season 3 map will likely revolve around the mansion that Eddie Richtofen was staying in, prior to the events of Black Ops 6 Zombies.
But whether Season 3 has a map in store for us at launch or not, the next Zombies experience has technically been delayed.
After all, regardless of when the next round-based map arrives, all future updates have been pushed back by around three weeks.
For now, we’ll have to see what Treyarch has to say about the season’s content, but the usual blog post revealing what’s in store will likely be pushed back a couple of weeks too.
