In a new interview, Treyarch explains that it’s aiming to make Black Ops 6 Zombies more accessible to all players, ensuring that even new fans can enjoy the survival mode.

Call of Duty Zombies has been a fan favorite mode since its introduction in 2008’s World at War.

Over the years though, the simple undead survival experience has evolved, becoming a hardcore battle for survival, and hiding Easter eggs that only the most dedicated of players will ever experience.

Now, it appears that Black Ops 6 could be easing up the difficulty levels slightly, at least in the early game.

Treyarch Wants a More Accessible Black Ops 6 Zombies

In a new Xbox interview with Treyarch’s Associate Design Director Kevin Drew, the developer explains the team’s mentality behind Black Ops 6 Zombies.

“I want to bring Zombies to more people, and so approachability has been a key part for me,” the Treyarch representative explains.

It’s certainly true that Zombies can be a challenging experience.

Black Ops 6 Zombies Attacking

Although the likes of MWZ’s open-world experiment was far easier than we’ve seen Zombies in recent years, Black Ops games have always offered trickier round-based modes.

Round-based is already confirmed to return in Black Ops 6, with two fully-fledged Zombies maps coming at launch!

Will Black Ops 6 Zombies Be Easier?

According to Kevin Drew, Treyarch is looking to make changes to Black Ops 6 Zombies, with the aim of making the mode more accessible to all:

“It’s a very challenging mode, and so when people try it for the first time they might survive for two minutes. And it’s like, once you get in there and you experience the higher rounds, it’s so much fun. So we want to just make sure that more people can do that”

Drew alludes to new mechanics that will help with ‘raising the floor’ and ensuring more players get to experience the mode’s higher rounds.

Big Zombie in Black Ops 6

At this moment in time, the Associate Design Director doesn’t elaborate further on what they might be. One mechanic that will surely help is the return of the controversial GobbleGum feature – hopefully this time without the gacha mechanics!

But could Treyarch be considering adding a difficulty selection to the mode, or will the early rounds simply be a little easier than in previous games?

We anticipate that Zombies fans will still have plenty of difficulty to contend with at higher rounds. But for now, we’ll have to wait and see what Black Ops 6 Zombies has to offer new players.

We can’t wait to find out more, and we’re certain to catch more Zombies details at COD Next 2024, this August!
