Loot Keys are a new item that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies fans are running into on a regular basis, but what do they actually open?
By now, most Black Ops 6 fans have gotten to grips with the game’s incredible new take on Zombies, but there are still a few aspects that are causing confusion.
If you’ve been playing the round-based survival mode, chances are you’ve run into some mysterious Loot Keys around the map. Here’s a full explanation of where they come from, and what they’re for:
Where to Use Loot Keys in Black Ops 6 Zombies
Loot Keys are used to open lockers or security deposit boxes that can be found in special locations in each Black Ops 6 Zombies map.
The higher rarity the Loot Key, the better the loot it will unlock when you discover a locked container.
Using Epic or Legendary-rarity Loot Keys is a great way to discover powerful Scorestreaks, free Perk Cans, and even Wonder Weapons for free!
Terminus
On Terminus, Loot Keys must be brought to the Armory, in the room just down the stairs from the map’s spawn point. Simply interact with the door to head inside and you’ll be able to interact with a locker to open it.
After that, you can loot the locker and take your rewards!
You can mostly forget about zombies while you’re looting, as the Armory is a generally safe area. However, unlike Liberty Falls’ Vault, it is possible for a zombie or two to get inside through a hole in the wall, so keep on your toes.
Bear in mind that each player can only carry one Loot Key at a time. We advise only carrying Epic (Purple) or Legendary (Orange) Loot Keys, as the locker room has a limited number of containers to open – and you don’t want to waste them for less valuable loot.
45 seconds after entering the locker room, all players will be kicked from the Armory. An explosion will knock away all nearby undead whenever a player exits the room, so you should be safe to leave.
Then, the Terminus Armory will require a cooldown period of around 1 Round before it can be used again.
Liberty Falls
On Liberty Falls, Loot Keys are used to open security deposit boxes inside the vault at Liberty Savings & Loan.
To open the vault, you must gather three parts of a randomized code which can be found at the following locations:
- Savings & Loan: On the desk in front of the Vault
- Olly’s Comics: Under the shelf facing the Aetherella superhero statue
- Fuller’s Liberty Lanes: Under an ice bucket on the counter to the right of the bowling lanes (bucket must be shot to reveal the note)
Once you have all three parts of the code, head back to the vault and interact with it to input all six digits. These numbers will be randomized every game, so unfortunately Loot Keys are a lot harder to use than on Terminus!
When you’re inside the vault, you’ll be completely safe from zombies for 45 seconds, and you can use any Loot Keys you have in your inventory to open the safety deposit boxes from around the room.
If you exit the room, or the countdown ends and you’re kicked from the vault, an explosion will trigger outside to knock back enemies.
Then, the vault will be on cooldown, and you’ll only be able to enter it again the following round.
How to Get Loot Keys
Loot Keys are rare loot that drop at random from ‘elite’ enemies such as the Mangler, Abomination, and Amalgams.
These rare items are not guaranteed drops when taking down a boss zombie, but they do drop pretty regularly, particularly at the lower rarities.
However, we wouldn’t bother using Common (Green) or Rare (Blue) rarity Loot Keys, as they don’t lead to good enough rewards. Instead, saving your inventory space for Epic (Purple) or Legendary (Orange) keys is a better option!
After all, you can only carry one at a time, and there are only so many rewards up for grabs in the Vault and Armory!
