Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is bringing back round-based Zombies but longtime fans of the mode would like one feature to be removed before launch.
COD Zombies is already a sixteen-year-old franchise, and we’ve had some truly great undead survival experiences over the years.
Some Zombies modes have been a little hit-and-miss, but fans have generally had a great time slaughtering zombie hordes over the last decade and a half.
However, some longtime Zombies fans would prefer a return to traditional gameplay, and that means getting rid of one mechanic that’s set to come back in Black Ops 6.
Zombies Fans Want Ammo Cache Removed
Over on the COD Zombies subreddit, fans are discussing the Ammo Cache mechanic that was introduced in Black Ops Cold War Zombies.
These crates allow players to restock their ammunition at any point in a match simply by finding one and spending a handful of Essence.
The mechanic is a great way to keep your ammo topped up, but some fans believe it takes away from the spirit of the Zombies game mode.
“They somewhat discourage playing smart to get to high rounds,” Reddit user Volatiiile complains. “As I can spam whatever weapon I want and buy the ammo back anyway. Genuinely makes the game too easy and forgiving when it comes to utilizing your weapons/abilities correctly.”
What makes the Ammo Caches particularly powerful is that they can even be used to refresh your Wonder Weapon ammo, preventing players from losing access to their Ray Gun or other powerful weaponry.
The Issue With Infinite Ammo
While Wonder Weapons are still hard to come by, once you’ve got one in modern Zombies modes, you’ll be able to keep it forever. And to some players, that removes a key component of COD Zombies strategy.
“I’d say having infinite ammo ruined modern zombies a lot more than loadouts and chopper gunners, user Salamantic agrees “It just completely removes an entire gameplay mechanic of ammo management.”
Not only did early Zombies modes require players to replace their weapons frequently in the early rounds, but restocking them would often mean a trip to the Mystery Box or Wall Buy. Later in the game, this would get harder and harder, especially if your preferred weapon was halfway across the map.
With Ammo Caches appearing all over the map, Cold War Zombies made things a little too easy when it came to resupplying. And since we know Black Ops 6 Zombies is bringing the crates back once again, we can only hope that they’re at least a little harder to come by.
However, we won’t hold our breath, especially as Black Ops 6 Zombies is attempting to make the game more accessible for new players.
Not only will players be able to save and quit their run at any time, but Black Ops 6’s new Directed Easter Egg mode is also making story quests far easier to complete.
