Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is adding head-exploding Zombie spiders in the form of new enemies, Vermin and their evolved form, Parasites.
As if the undead weren’t scary enough, it appears that Black Ops 6’s rendition of Zombies is bringing back spiders – and not how we remember them.
Giant spider enemies have previously appeared in Black Ops 3 Zombies, in the maps Zetsubou No Shima and Revelations. But now, a new type of Zombie arachnid-like species is set to arrive in Black Ops 6.
Black Ops 6 Vermin Teaser
Over on the new Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies teaser website, TheTruthDies.com, an ominous video teased that something new is coming to the round-based survival mode.
The video begins with a David Attenborough-style nature documentary before the footage of giraffes cuts to static.
“Watch as this arachnid-like vermin explodes from the frontal lobe of the undead,” a more sinister narrator instructs.
But we weren’t able to do much watching, as the footage is extremely grainy and hard to make out. Now, with the reveal of the Terminus gameplay trailer, we have a better look at what’s to come:
Vermin
In the new trailer, we get our first look at what Treyarch calls Vermin, a wall-crawling new enemy that erupts from the skulls of the undead.
Vermin aren’t much of a threat individually, but they are extremely dangerous in packs. These spider-like scuttlers will rip themselves out of the head of the undead before scrambling up walls and attempting to drop onto your head.

Vermin can sprint and jump at the player, or spit an acidic spray to cause further damage.
As if these horrible creatures weren’t bad enough, it turns out that players who ignore them are in for an even worse time. Leave a Vermin alone for too long, and it will evolve into a Parasite, a much scarier, winged enemy and no doubt a significantly more threatening foe.
Parasites
Once Vermin are left alone for long enough, they will evolve into the formidable Parasites.
These cunning creatures will attempt to use their membrane-like wings to remain at a distance from the player, before shooting acid bile in their direction.

Whilst arachnophobes may find Parasites less scary than their Vermin pre-evolution, it’s far easier to deal with the creature before it evolves.
Therefore, when you see any zombie heads start to pop, that’s your signal to keep shooting!
Will Black Ops 6 Have an Arachnophobia Setting?
Yes, according to ModernWarzone, who got a chance to play the new Terminus Island map early, Treyarch has confirmed that Black Ops 6 will have an arachnophobia setting.
Turning on the setting will adjust the appearance of the new Vermin enemy type, though we don’t know to what extent.
Usually, settings like this either change the model of the enemy, or remove it from the game entirely.
We’ll update this article when more about this new arachnophobia mode is revealed!
