Round-based Zombies is back in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and we just got our first look at what Treyarch has in store for us!

The Xbox Games Showcase had plenty of exciting reveals, but Call of Duty fans may have found themselves eagerly awaiting its conclusion. After all, that’s when Microsoft is kicking off the Black Ops 6 Direct, revealing the debut of COD 2024 gameplay.

But even before the showcase went live, new official details emerged, revealing what we were hoping for the most: round-based Zombies is indeed making a return!

First Round-Based Zombies Gameplay

Treyarch just revealed our first look at round-based Zombies in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 ahead of the Xbox Games Showcase.

Over on the Xbox Store, the Black Ops 6 page reveals that round-based Zombies mode is back. This is great news for fans of the classic Zombies, who weren’t happy with Vanguard or MW3’s take on the game mode.

In the first image for Black Ops 6 Zombies, we can see Gray, Weaver, and Carver taking a stand against the undead hordes.

However, whether this means that traditional crews are back rather than players choosing their own Operator, we don’t know just yet.

Call of Duty also confirmed Black Ops 6 will launch with two Zombies maps right out of the gate, which is more than Cold War, Vanguard, and Modern Warfare 3 had to offer.

This is only the beginning, however, as Activision promises that ‘players can look forward to even more exciting maps and groundbreaking experiences’ coming to Zombies post-launch.

What’s more, knowing Treyarch, the developer will have packed each map full of Easter eggs, with a new Wonder Weapon and main quest to discover when the game goes live.

The story of Black Ops 6 Zombies is expected to follow on from Cold War Zombies, which ended with the return of Edward Richtofen.

It also teased William Peck chartering a ship to a secret island off the coast of Japan, with the goal of finding some ‘old friends.’

We’ll have to wait and see where exactly the storyline, which will presumably be set in the 1990s, will take us!
