Treyarch is making major changes to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s groundbreaking new Omnimovement system ahead of launch.

Omnimovement is a game-changer when it comes to Call of Duty. Treyarch’s new action hero-inspired movement system allows players to sprint, dive, and slide in any direction they choose, for the first time ever in a COD title.

We first went hands-on with the system during the recent Black Ops 6 Beta where popular opinion was that Omnimovement is fun, albeit overpowered new mechanic.

Now, before Black Ops 6 even launches on October 25, Treyarch is making some big tweaks to how movement works in-game.

Black Ops 6 Omnimovement Changes

It appears that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will feel a little different on launch day, thanks to big changes that are already coming to Omnimovement.

In its new Road to Launch blog post, Treyarch outlines exactly what it’s been working on since the recent Beta, with movement being a heavy priority.

Here’s what the developer has in store for us:

Animation Improvements

Treyarch is taking steps to improve animation fluidity and fidelity when it comes to Omnimovement. Now, what you see in first person should be much closer to what enemies see you pull off in third person.

Whether an enemy player is sliding, diving, or prone on the ground, what you see is now more reflective of the user’s actual positioning.

This should massively help combat enemies that are effectively taking advantage of Omnimovement by ensuring that all players are on the same footing.

Slide Adjustments

More changes are coming to sliding in Black Ops 6, which is still a little too strong for the developer’s liking.

Firstly, slide duration has seen a slight reduction, meaning you’ll be able to cover less ground while in your sliding animation.

However, you can now move into a slide faster as Treyarch is reducing the minimum time to slide – preventing dead slides where the game would misinterpret your slide as a stationary crouch.

In Weekend 2 of the Black Ops 6 Beta, Treyarch adjusted sliding by increasing the amount of time before you could enter supine during a slide. Based on player feedback, that time has been reduced slightly, but it’s still higher than it was back in Weekend 1.

Intelligent Movement Update

Finally, while this doesn’t fall under the Omnimovement umbrella, Treyarch is making some tweaks to its Intelligent Movement systems.

Intelligent Movement refers to the new Sprint Assist, Mantle Assist, and Crouch Assist settings, which players can use to reduce the number of inputs required to pull off complex movement.

Thanks to recent changes, players encountering issues with tuning of directional mantles should no longer encounter those issues.

And on top of all that, Treyarch confirms that fixing spawns is a big priority for Black Ops 6 – even if we should still expect a rocky launch.
