If you’ve heard that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be free on Xbox, here’s the official truth of the matter!
In recent history, we’ve seen a few fans questioning whether or not Black Ops 6 will be ‘free’ for Xbox users. And while that’s not exactly true, it’s not as far off as you’d think.
There is, in fact, a way to play this year’s Call of Duty title on Xbox for little to no extra cash.
Is Black Ops 6 Free on Xbox?
No, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is not free for Xbox users by default.
However, any console owner who has an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership will be able to play Treyarch’s shooter for no extra charge.
This is also true for existing subscribers to the now-discontinued Xbox Game Pass Console tier or users of Game Pass PC.
Black Ops 6 will be available on day one via Xbox Game Pass, which allows Microsoft fans who already have a subscription to download the game for free.
If you don’t have a subscription, Microsoft offers a 14 day trial of Xbox Game Pass for just $1.
This will allow you to complete the Black Ops 6 Campaign, or try out the Multiplayer and Zombies modes before deciding on whether you’d like to continue your subscription!
How to Play Black Ops 6 on Game Pass
To play Black Ops 6, Xbox users will need to subscribe to Game Pass Ultimate, which costs $19.99 a month.
Existing Xbox Game Pass Console subscribers can receive the game on their cheaper pricing tier ($10.00/m). However, that subscription level has since been discontinued for new members.
Black Ops 6 is not included on Game Pass Core, or Standard, leaving Ultimate as the only tier available for new subscribers on Xbox systems.
But those who wish to play on PC can get Black Ops 6 on the Game Pass PC tier, for $11.99 a month.
Once you’re a Game Pass Ultimate, Console, or PC subscriber, you’ll be able to download Black Ops 6 for no additional cost from October 25, 2024 onward.
But bear in mind that there is no form of early access available for Black Ops 6 – despite the trend we’ve seen in recent years.
