Call of Duty games often have major issues with spawns, and it appears that Black Ops 6 will be no exception.

At this point, it’s a long-standing tradition that a new COD game will release with broken spawns. In every Beta testing period, players report that they’re spawning in the line of fire or directly behind enemy Operators.

This was, as always, the case with the Black Ops 6 Beta, and Treyarch appears to have been working hard to alleviate the issue. However, the developer doesn’t want to raise player hopes too high for a fix by launch.

Black Ops 6 Spawn Fixes

In the new Road to Launch blog, Treyarch announced that it is still hard at work fixing the Black Ops 6 spawn system.

After collecting a massive amount of data from Call of Duty’s biggest-ever Beta, the team claims to have made ‘big strides’ when it comes to respawn placements:

“We’ve already made big strides in dialing in our spawn logic and identifying and resolving issues within the spawn system across the game for launch,” the blog post reads.

Treyarch points out that players may have noticed improvements to spawn logic in Weekend 2 of the recent Beta, something that we definitely witnessed ourselves. However, that same weekend saw the introduction of a new map, Babylon, which had the worst spawns of any map in the Beta!

Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Babylon and Operators

Notably, the blog post uses an image of Babylon when discussing spawns, perhaps as a way of reassuring fans that the map won’t be quite as rough when we play it next.

In fact, we expect that the maps that Treyarch has data on, i.e. the maps available in the Black Ops 6 Beta, will have much better spawns on release day.

But what about all the other maps coming to Black Ops 6’s Multiplayer at launch? Well, we wouldn’t get your hopes up too high.

Treyarch insists that it will continue to watch the spawn data, and assess its own system as new content arrives in the game. And the team promises ‘necessary updates’ through both launch and beyond, which sounds optimistic.

However, we believe this suggests that the team will struggle to adjust spawns for maps that we haven’t already had the chance to play. So perhaps it’s worth bearing that in mind when you hop into Black Ops 6 Multiplayer on October 25.
