The Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 campaign will require an internet connection to play, even if the mode is single-player!

While the main focus of the Call of Duty series is fast-paced multiplayer firefights, the campaigns are packed with action set pieces and unpredictable twists in the story.

And with Black Ops 6’s campaign promising a “mind-bending narrative”, this may be the most hyped single-player story in Call of Duty for a while.

However, despite the campaign only being playable solo, the mode will not be offline. You’ll actually need an ongoing internet connection if you want to play through the Black Ops 6 campaign!

Black Ops 6 Campaign Requires Internet to Play

In the FAQs of a new post on the Activision Support website, Treyarch has detailed the need for an online connection whenever you are playing Black Ops 6. This even includes when only playing the single-player campaign.

The blog post says:

“To deliver the highest-quality visuals while also reducing the game’s overall storage space on your hard drive, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will use texture streaming across all game modes. This means you’ll need a continuous internet connection to play any game mode, including campaign.”

Despite this, Treyarch has confirmed that you will not need a PlayStation Plus or Game Pass Core subscription if you just want to play the campaign.

Reducing the games’s file size is a good idea, even if it means a continuous internet connection is required. This is because Black Ops 6’s will be over 300 GB!

Fortunately, the large file size means that there will be plenty of content in the game at launch. This includes the campaign, an impressive 16 multiplayer maps and the return of round-based Zombies!
