Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is banning innocent players from its Beta, but Activision is already reassuring fans that the issue won’t last forever.
The Black Ops 6 Beta has only been live for a few days and already its RICOCHET anti-cheat is causing chaos.
Not only is Call of Duty’s custom anti-cheat software failing to detect real cheaters in the Black Ops 6 Beta, but some fans are being unfairly banned for seemingly no reason.
More than a few fans have recently taken to social media to complain about being banned from the Black Ops 6 Beta for no reason. Now, Activision is finally replying to the irate community.
Activision on Black Ops 6 Beta Bans
In a new post made to the CODUpdates X account, Activision discusses its RICOCHET anti-cheat implementation in the Black Ops 6 Beta.
According to the publisher, the Beta is being used to test new features and monitor telemetry. The team also states that its anti-cheat is being ‘proactive with detections’ in an effort to put an end to players using exploits in the Multiplayer trial.
However, tuning for the detections are currently in a testing stage themselves, which is likely why players have been finding themselves banned for seemingly no reason.
Activision doesn’t outright admit this fact, but the update does state that the team will ‘make adjustments to reduce issues players have been experiencing.’
As for what will happen to those fans who have already been falsely banned, the publisher didn’t mention anything about unbanning accounts.
Assuming that RICOCHET is able to differentiate unjustly banned players from those who were legitimately hacking, it’s possible that many innocent fans could find themselves unbanned before long.
However, we imagine that many users will find themselves having to wait out their ban timer in order to jump back online.
This isn’t a great look for Activision, especially as many players will have spent $99.99 on the Black Ops 6 Vault Edition prior to the Beta going live. Now, many premium edition owners may be reconsidering their purchase, which was only just worth it to begin with!
