After PlayStation fans gained access to the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Beta, Activision is finally pulling the early build down.
It’s been a crazy week for Call of Duty leaks. Not only have the usual leakers been taking the wind out of COD NEXT’s sails by teasing upcoming content, but some fans have been able to get full access to the Black Ops 6 Beta early.
The Beta, which is set to go live on August 30, was seemingly made available early via the PlayStation Database. By using a jailbroken PS4, some users found out that they were able to install the new update, and even play the Beta early!
Now, Activision is finally taking action and shutting the whole thing down – but is it a case of too little, too late?
Activision Removes Black Ops 6 Beta Update
According to PlayStation Game Size over on X, Call of Duty Update 01.49 has now been removed from the database entirely.
This should prevent users from downloading the Beta from Sony’s database, which was only possible for a jailbroken PS4. However, it may not be enough to stop the leaks from coming in.
After all, it’s likely that anyone who has installed the update will be able to continue playing the early Beta build.
And what’s more, for those still looking to gain access to Black Ops 6, the leaker community is already rehosting the pkg files, allowing others to freely download the Beta update.
For its part, Activision has been working hard to copyright strike all Black Ops 6 footage that makes its way onto the net, but it’s a losing battle.
The publisher also put out a warning about online ‘misinformation’ in its latest blog post, in the hopes that players will stick to getting their information from official channels.
However, there’s little the company can do to put the genie back in the bottle with this one. In the last few days, we’ve seen all the weapons coming to Black Ops 6, as well as all maps, perks, and even Zombies news.
Call of Duty NEXT is still scheduled for the end of the month, but it’s certainly disappointing for Treyarch that many of its big reveals are already being spoiled by fans playing the game right now.
