Here are all of the biggest changes in the Elden Ring 1.06 patch. This includes tweaks to summoning, White Mask Varre’s questline, and game balancing.
It’s been a couple of months since the last Elden Ring update, but the game has finally gotten another patch.
Developer FromSoftware dropped the version 1.06 update for Elden Ring on August 8, 2022, and it includes a surprising amount of changes.
This includes some tweaks to summoning and an update for the White Mask Varre Questline, as well as a load of balancing changes and bug fixes. Here are all of the major changes in the patch.

Biggest Changes in the Elden Ring 1.06 Update
Summoning & Invading
Firstly, FromSoftware has made some major changes to Summoning and Invading in the Elden Ring 1.06 patch:
- Players will be able to send summoning signs to summoning pools in multiple areas. This should help make the process much faster.
- Players can now Invade a larger area. This includes areas that are far away too.

White Mask Varre Questline
Tarnished can now progress this quest completely offline by defeating a new NPC in the game. This will make getting the powerful White Mask helm much easier.
The White Mask Varre questline in Elden Ring was tricky to complete since players previously required playing online.

Balancing Changes
The Elden Ring 1.06 patch also includes 12 different balancing changes. Most of these are quite minor but there are a couple that could be pretty game-changing:
- FromSoftware has given small buffs to the attack speed as well as the length of time after an attack you can roll for Greatswords, Curved Greatswords, Great Axes, and Great Hammers. This will hopefully make Strength builds a bit more powerful.
- The insanely powerful Bloodhound’s Step Ash of War has gotten a significant nerf. The travel distance and invincibility frames have been reduced and spamming the move now leads to reduced performance.

Bug Fixes
Finally, the patch notes also list over 30 different bug fixes for Elden Ring. This includes everything from general performance issues to specific glitches with weapons, combat, and dropped runes.
