The SP-R 208 is making waves as one of the best Snipers in MW2, but you can use the right loadout and attachments to make it even stronger.
If you’ve been playing Modern Warfare 2, you’ll have likely come across players using the SP-R 208. This Marksman Rifle is as quick as it is dangerous, offering one-shot kills when hitting enemies at the chest or above.
Best SP-R 208 Loadout Build & Attachments in MW2
- Barrel: 23.5″ Fluted R-67 – Unlocked at LA-B 330 Level 5
- Laser: Canted Vibro-Dot 7 – Unlocked at TAQ-56 Level 10
- Stock: ZRL T70 Pad Extension – Unlocked at SP-R 208 Level 11
- Bolt: FSS ST87 Bolt – Unlocked at SP-R 208 Level 9
- Magazine: 10 Round Mag – Unlocked at SP-R 208 Level 6
You’ll need to rank up a variety of guns for these attachments, so find out how to level up guns fast in MW2.
Firstly, we went with the 23.5″ Fluted barrel for our starting attachment. The main issue with the SP-R 208, other than its rechambering speed, is the damage range fall-off. This barrel increases the damage range, while also increasing bullet velocity.
We then went with the Canted Vibro-Dot 7 for the laser. While a variety of other lasers can be used with this gun, we went with this due to the speed at which you can aim with it.
The ZRL T70 Pad Extension stock will further increase the aim speed, as well as your sprint speed too. It does come with the cost of less recoil control, but this is so high already that it doesn’t matter.
The FSS ST87 Bolt will negate the other main problem with the SP-R, the rechambering speed. While it does increase the rechambering accuracy, this is still a great trade-off.
Finally, we went with the 10 Round Mag over the 15 Round Mag. The five-bullet mag that the SP-R comes with is too little, while the 15 Round Mag is too much and causes a few debuffs to the gun. The 10 Round Mag is the perfect middle ground.
How to Unlock the SP-R 208 in Modern Warfare 2
You can unlock the SP-R 208 Marksman Rifle by reaching Rank 7 in Modern Warfare 2’s Multiplayer.
This shouldn’t be too hard to reach, especially if you’ve been playing MW2 for a few hours.
Best Secondary to Use With the SP-R 208
The best secondary to use with the SP-R 208 loadout is the Lachmann Sub. This means you’ll need to use Overkill in your perk package.
Since the SP-R 208 is a slow weapon to fire and is mainly used for mid to long-range kills, the Lachmann Sub will ease any problems you’ll have when enemies come too close.
To make this better, you could even pair it with the best Lachmann Sub loadout. This way, you’ll be able to get killstreaks with ease!
If you don’t want to use up a perk slot with Overkill, we recommend using the X13 Auto as your secondary, thanks to its high fire rate.
Best Perks to Use With the SP-R 208 in MW2
The best perks to use with our SP-R 208 loadout are:
- Overkill
- Scavenger / Double Time
- Fast Hands
- Birdseye
It’s worth noting that there’s a new system called Perk Packages in Modern Warfare 2, which we advise you to read about to understand.
This perk package aims to use the fast nature of the SP-R 208 to your advantage. Despite being a Marksman Rifle, this gun is brutal when running and gunning.
Best SP-R 208 Base Perks
- Overkill
- Scavenger
We recommend running Overkill with this loadout, simply so you can use the Lachmann Sub to balance the long-range of the SP-R 208 with something that can handle close-range encounters.
As for the second base perk, we’re going with Scavenger, so you can keep your ammunition topped up on both guns. However, feel free to switch this out for Double Time.
Best SP-R 208 Bonus Perk
- Fast Hands
Fast Hands will speed up your reloading, making using the SP-R 208 much easier. Not only that, but Fast Hands will allow you to swap to your Lachmann Sub and back quickly too.
Best SP-R 208 Ultimate Perk
- Birdseye
We recommend using Birdseye for this loadout, as it will allow you to keep track of the enemy’s whereabouts easier and see which way they’re going.
Since the SP-R 208 can win more engagements when you surprise an opponent, having this upper hand could turn any match around.
Best Equipment to Use With the SP-R 208 in MW2
For the best equipment with our SP-R 208 loadout, you can’t go wrong with:
- Tactical – Stim
- Lethal – Drill Charge
The Stim will give you a much-needed boost of health after risky encounters and will keep you alive longer for some of your killstreaks.
As for the lethal, we recommend the Drill Charge simply because it can clear entrances to areas fairly well and can also be used as like a semtex, if it sticks to an enemy.
Best Field Upgrade to Use With SP-R 208
We recommend using the Portable Radar for this SP-R 208 loadout in Modern Warfare 2.
This is so you can take advantage of your Birdseye ultimate perk, and track enemies that come towards objectives.
Being able to line up shots before an enemy enters your line of sight will make killing an enemy with the SP-R 208 even easier.
Best Alternatives to the SP-R 208
While the SP-R 208 is one of the quickest and deadliest Marksman Rifles in the game, there are a few great alternatives:
- Lockwood MK2 – This Marksman Rifle has less recoil control and accuracy than the SP-R, but offers increased damage and handling in return.
- LM-S – The LM-S lacks damage, recoil control, and mobility compared to other Marksman Rifles, but has increased fire rate and range.
