The Retro Cup: Great League Edition keeps the Pokemon GO Battle League old-school by only allowing the Pokemon types that were in Gen 1. This, combined with its strict CP limit, makes choosing a battle team for it difficult – that’s why we’ve got the best options for you!
The best team to use in the Pokemon GO Retro Cup: Great League Edition is:
- Lickitung
- Aurorus
- Altaria
This is a very well-balanced team that can counter whatever Pokemon your opponents use. Lickitung should be your lead, thanks to its great survivability, and you can swap in either Aurorus or Altaria to deal plenty of damage!
While this team might be the best choice, there are also plenty more Pokemon that can help you to wins.
These are our top 10 choices, alongside their strongest attacks:
Pokemon | Image | Type | Fast Attack | Charged Attacks |
---|---|---|---|---|
Lickitung (XL) | ![]() | Normal | Lick | Body Slam* Power Whip |
Aurorus | ![]() | Rock/Ice | Powder Snow | Weather Ball (Ice) Meteor Beam |
Pidgeot | ![]() | Normal/Flying | Wing Attack* | Feather Dance Brave Bird |
Noctowl | ![]() | Normal/Flying | Wing Attack | Sky Attack Shadow Ball |
Altaria | ![]() | Dragon/Flying | Dragon Breath | Sky Attack Moonblast* |
Froslass | ![]() | Ice/Ghost | Powder Snow | Avalanche Shadow ball |
Jellicent | ![]() | Water/Poison | Hex | Surf Shadow Ball |
Pelipper | ![]() | Water/Flying | Wing Attack | Weather Ball (Water) Hurricane |
Mantine | ![]() | Water/Flying | Wing Attack | Bubble Beam Ice Beam |
Regirock | ![]() | Rock | Lock On | Stone Edge Focus Blast |
For Likcitung to be as effective as possible, you’ll need XL Candy to power it up to the 1500 CP limit.
Meanwhile, any attack with a star (*) next to it is an exclusive attack. If your Pokemon does not already know it, you’ll have to use an Elite TM to teach it to them.
Once you’ve taught these Pokemon their strongest attacks, you’ll rise up the ranks and earn all of the Season of Hidden Gems GO Battle League rewards in no time!
