The three best weapons to use in your MW2 Ranked Play loadouts are:

  1. SP-X 80
  2. Vel-46
  3. TAQ-56
  4. Vaznev-9K

These four guns are the current meta in MW2 Ranked Play due to their low recoil, mobility, and time-to-kill. Accompanied by the best perks, secondary weapon, as well as lethal and tactical grenades, these loadouts will help you climb the ranks.

Of course, before hopping into Ranked Play, you will need to familiarize yourself with the CDL rules, including the banned weapons. Also, weapon tuning has been banned from Ranked Play and the CDL.

4. SP-X 80

The SP-X 80 is the best sniper to use in MW2 ranked play due to its damage and quick ADS. We do ,however, recommend only using the sniper when playing in Search & Destroy, as you will likely be out gunned in respawn modes.

Here are the best attachments for the SP-X 80:

  • Barrel: 22.5″ Elevate-11
  • Ammunition: .300 High Velocity
  • Stock: PVZ -890 Tac Stock
  • Rear Grip: Schlager Match Grip
  • Bolt: FSS ST87 Bolt

3. Vel-46

After the latest Season 2 Reloaded weapon buffs and nerfs, the Vel-46 has received a buff to its close range damage. This boost has made it a viable weapon in MW2 competitive with players like OpTiC Texas Shotzzy now using this SMG.

Here are the best attachments for the Vel-46:

  • Underbarrel: Edge-47 Grip
  • Magazine: 30 Round Mag
  • Rear Grip: Schlager Soldier Grip

Best Perks in MW2 Ranked Play

For your perks, we suggest using the following three as the Ultimate perk is banned in Ranked Play:

  • Double Time (Base)
  • Bomb Squad (Base)
  • Fast Hands (Bonus)

Although, you can switch to Cold Blooded in the game if the opposing team uses their killstreaks. Battle Hardened is also another great option if the enemy team is constantly using their stun grenades.

Best Secondary to Use in MW2 Ranked Play

The best secondary to use in MW2 Ranked Play is the Combat Knife. If you pair this melee weapon with Double Time, you will get to the best positions on the map quickly.

If you choose to run the Sniper loadout we suggest equipping the pistol in this case.

Ranked Play is an extremely competitive mode so the likelihood is that you will die before running out of ammo in your primary, so running a pistol is not that useful.

Even if you run out of ammo, players in your lobby will be running some high-tier loadouts that you can pick from the ground instead.

Best Field Upgrade,Lethal & Tactical Grenades in MW2 Ranked Play

For the Field Upgrade, the best choices will be Dead Silence to allow you to move around objectives without being heard or the Trophy System to stop any grenades or stuns coming into the objective you are holding.

For your lethal equipment, there are only two options Frag or Semtex. Either option is good to choose but Semtex may be slightly better in respawn modes as they are more accurate.

There is only one tactical equipment available so you are forced to use the Stun Grenade.

While they may not be the meta, unlocking the new weapons in Season 2 can be a smart thing to do, as they may receive a future buff!
