The Elden Ring Black Flame Mage Build is enough to push players past some of the most challenging bosses in the Lands Between.
This is a fantastic feat because, towards the end of Elden Ring, you’ll be facing the likes of Godfrey, First Elden Lord.
And the battles can get challenging. Most bosses will have attacks that do relentless damage and barely give you a second to retaliate.
This is why having a great build that can survive those onslaughts and deliver equally punishing damage is essential.
The Black Flame Mage Build will allow you to do that and more with its powerful Godslayer items and black flames.

Players will be able to deal a great amount of damage by pairing the Flame Grant Me Strength and Golden Vow incantations with the Godslayer Greatsword and its black flames.
It offers ways for players to deal massive damage either at close range or medium range while making it so they can withstand a couple of hits.
To start, you’ll want to mainly focus your attribute points on Vigor, Mind, Faith, and Strength. With a heavy focus on Faith. Strength should only be used to help wield some of the items.
Black Flame Mage Build Incantations
First, you need a Sacred Seal. The Godslayer’s Seal will empower most of the incantations in this build, which will work best. You’re also able to find it relatively early in the game.
Players will be able to find Godslayer’s Seal in Stormveil Castle. Head to the central courtyard and downstairs, leading to a Stonesword Key room. You’ll only need one.
Inside will be the Godslayer’s Seal along with the Godslayer Prayerbook.
Godslayer’s Seal + Flame, Grant Me Strength & Golden Vow
There are two necessary incantations that you will need. They are Flame, Grant Me Strength, and Golden Vow.
Flame, Grant Me Strength raises physical and fire-affinity attack power.
Flame, Grant Me Strength will be found in Fort Gael behind the two flamethrowers, while Golden Vow can be found in the Corpse-Stench Shack in Mt. Gelmir.

Golden Vow increases attack and defense for your build.

When you combine them, they become the perfect foundation for your Black Flame incantations and Godslayer items.
Black Flame & Scouring Black Flame

If you want to get some distance from your enemies, you’ll need the Black Flame incantation, which you can buy after giving the Godslayer Prayerbook to an Incantation Merchant.
We recommend going to Miriel in the Church of Vows since they will never move or go away.
For a quicker cast, but one that’s just as powerful and a little more spread out, the Scouring Black Flame will be beneficial.
Although the damage incantations are great and will get you out of tricky situations, the main form of damage you’ll be doing will be via the weapons and their special skills.
Players will be able to find Scouring Black Flame after defeating the Godskin Apostle in Dominula, Windmill Village north of Atlus Plateau.

Black Flame Mage Build Weapons
The Black Flame Mage Build is more physical than you might’ve guessed. This is because of how potent the weapon skills for the weapons are.
They do downright ridiculous amounts of damage to most endgame enemies. Which makes sense considering the Black Flame is known to work great against enemies that use holy damage.
Gargoyle’s Flame Art Twinblade + Black Flame Tornado Ash of War

The first weapon you’ll want to set up is the Gargoyle’s Twinblade. You get this weapon near the Waterfall Basin underground, where you fight duo Valiant Gargoyles.
Defeat both of them, and it will be one of the drops.
Once you have the weapon, you’ll need to imbue it with the Black Flame Tornado Ash of War and choose the Flame property for it. This will allow it to do black flame damage and scale with faith.
Its weapon skill is lethal and can cut boss health quickly if they are cut in the weapon skill. But it can be a little challenging to use with faster enemies or mobs.
The Black Flame Tornado is dropped by the Godskin Duo boss in the Crumbling Farum Azula.
Godslayer’s Greatsword

The primary weapon that we recommend for this build is the Godslayer’s Greatsword. The Godslayer’s Greatsword is a colossal sword that does intense damage without adding much.
But where it truly shines is with its The Queen’s Black Flame unique weapon skill. It imbues the Greatsword with black flame and does a sweeping slash that can damage enemies on two occasions.
First during its initial build and second when the sweeping motion is made. Players can also add do an additional input to do a follow-up attack. The black flames will continue to damage enemies for a short while after.
And, if you two-hand this colossal sword while doing this attack, you will follow through even when hit by enemies.
This means your poise will not be broken, and you will be able to deliver your attack without interruption.
The Godslayer’s Greatsword can be found in

Black Flame Mage Build Talismans
The talisman in the Black Flame Mage Build is meant to help you boost your incantations while also allowing you to withstand some of the weight of being a close-quarters mage.
Radagon’s Icon

You’ll want to have Radagon’s Icon on you to shorten the casting time of all your incantations. Since you need to cast the buffs before battle, it’s handy—every second counts in Elden Ring.
Great-Jar’s Arsenal

To help with some of the heavier items in this build, you’ll need the Great-Jar’s Arsenal talisman, which vastly increases your maximum equip load.
DragonCrest Greatshield

Since a lot of your battles will be fought at close quarters, you’ll want the DragonCrest Greatshield to allow you to reduce all physical damage taken by over 20%.
Fire Scorpion Charm

Finally, the Fire Scorpion Charm will allow players to raise any fire attack. It does lower your damage negation, but it’s well worth it for the damage increase.
If you’d rather not suffer from that negative side-effect, then Faithful’s Canvas Talisman will allow you to boost the potency of all your incantations.

Black Flame Mage Build Armor
The Black Flame Mage Build armor should be light enough to make up for the weight of the weapons that you will be carrying.
But that doesn’t mean you can’t be included in the Elden Bling category.
Ruler’s Mask + Godskin Apostle Set

The Ruler’s Mask fits the build’s theme and gives players an extra faith attribute point.
We recommend pairing it up with the Godskin Apostle Robe, Bracelets, and Trousers to complete the Black Flame Mage Godslayer look.
You will have one of the best endgames Elden Ring builds possible with these items! Just make sure you’re maintaining your incantations buffs, and you’ll be set!

Once you’re all set, make sure you have one of the five best Spirit Ashes in your inventory to help you with the Elden Beast.

@Corey, for this build you'll need Faith, Mind, Vigor, and Strength! Focus Faith over Strength. Just get enough Strength to wield the sword. But if you can't, two-handing it will allow you to use the skill either way.

Yup, and somehow he has like 75 intelligence and not being a mage for a full playthrough, that is very confusing to me, which sucks because I already went through with the rest of the build and it took me like two hours to get the items I didn’t have
