We expect Black Friday 2020 to be more understated than previous years due to COVID risks. Stock for both the PS5 and Xbox Series X is incredibly low. But even so, here are the best Black Friday 2020 deals for gamers.
We often find that on Black Friday, people are so concerned with getting a great deal on hardware that they forget about the awesome software discounts! Xbox Marketplace, PSN and Nintendo Stores often have excellent deals this time of year.
Let’s check out what they are doing, and if next gen has impacted it.
PlayStation Black Friday Deals
Sony’s deals have not disappointed us this year. Not only are they offering up to 70% off certain PS4 games, but there’s also a 25% discount on PS Plus membership.
You can get 12 months for £37.49 in the UK and $44.99 in the US. If you've recently bought a PS5 and have been considering signing up, then now’s the time!
Remember, PS Plus members can take advantage of free games each month. They can also enjoy the benefits of the PS Plus Collection. A selection of classic PS4 games you can be download and play for free on PS5.
PlayStation 4 and 5 owners can take advantage of a variety of discounted PS4 games. This includes recent releases such as 50% off Marvel's Avengers, 29% off Ghosts of Tsushima, and 43% off The Last of Us Part 2.
PS5 games have also received online discounts for the first time since launch. So, if you’ve been eyeing up a particular digital title, now may be the best time to go for it.
Although sadly, not all PS5 games are subject to Black Friday deals. But Watch Dogs Legion has received a 33% discount, as have both versions of FIFA 21, as well as a few other titles.
Xbox Black Friday Deals
For a limited time, Xbox owners join Xbox Game Pass for just $1 or £1 in the UK. However, this will go back to $14.99 or £20.99 per month for subsequent months.
Xbox Live Gold has some incredible deals, with discounts going as high as 80% in some cases. With others around 70% and 60%.
Lots of Xbox One games, which will also be playable on Xbox Series X/S, have also received significant discounts. But we’re disappointed that more Xbox Series X/S games haven’t.
However, the console has just launched, so perhaps this is to be expected. Sony also didn’t discount PS5 games much, but we feel they’ve done more than Microsoft has for Black Friday.
Nintendo Black Friday Deals
While Sony and Microsoft are focused on the launch of their new consoles, Nintendo has sneaked in to become the king of the Black Friday 2020 deals.
A visit to Nintendo’s online store is misleading, as the games all still appear to be full price.
But if you own a Nintendo Switch console, then we’d recommend checking out the Current Offers section on the store app.
Here you find one of the Nintendo Switch’s most significant sales yet. Some games have been discounted up to 90%. The cheapest games are 0.08 cents!
NBA 2K21 has been discounted by 15% on Black Friday, as have other new games. But older titles could be anything from 20%, 30% to 50% off.
