Assault Rifles seem more meta than ever in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (2022). The powerful weapons can be decked out to have little-to-no recoil, as well as having some of the best kill power the game has to offer.

Best Assault Rifle Loadouts for MW2 Multiplayer
Kastov 762
- Barrel: KAS-10 584mm Barrel – Unlocked at RPK Level 16
- Muzzle: Kastovia DX90 – Unlocked at Kastov 62 Level 2
- Optic: Cronen Mini Red Dot – Unlocked at FSS Hurricane Level 3
- Underbarrel: FTAC Ripper 56 – Unlocked at Lachmann-762 Level 6
- Rear Grip: IVANOV ST-70 Grip – Unlocked at Kastov 762 Level 8
The Kastov 762 is perhaps the most dominant AR in the MW2 meta right now. Effectively an AK-47, this weapon hits hard, barely moves, and offers some of the easiest kills out there.
It’s a perfect multiplayer weapon, especially in the loadout above, and it has become a fan-favorite already. On top of that, it’s looking like it’ll be a great option to take into Warzone 2.0, so level it up fast!

Kastov-74u

The Kastov-74 (AKA the AK-74u) is an incredible Assault Rifle in MW2. It combines the very best attributes of an AR with those of an SMG.
The result is an Assault Rifle that both shreds through enemies and can out-maneuver a full team with ease. What’s more, it has next to no recoil to contend with.

The SCAR-L is one of the most iconic weapons in Call of Duty history and it’s back in MW2 as the TAQ-56. Longtime players will need no introduction to this dominant Assault Rifle.
In this loadout, the TAQ-56 boasts absolutely no recoil and incredible stopping power. There’s no question as to whether or not gun deserves its place on this list.

STB 556

- Laser: VLK LZR 7mw – Unlocked at STB 556 Level 5
- Optic: Cronen Mini Red Dot – Unlocked at FSS Hurricane Level 3
- Rear Grip: Stip-40 Grip – Unlocked at STB 556 Level 10
The STB 556 might not be everyone’s favorite before unlocking its attachments, but it’s one of the best ARs in the game when built properly. This gun has an incredible rate of fire, no recoil, and a ridiculously low TTK even at range.
On top of its insane firepower, the STB also offers quick ADS and a fast reload, ensuring you’re always in the action and dominating the competition. It is unlocked at Rank 41, so don’t sleep on this AR once you get your hands on it.
