Will There Be Another Battlefield Game?
EA is yet to confirm the prospect of another Battlefield game. Nonetheless, unless EA has completely written off the franchise, you can bet your bottom dollar that another iteration of the series is in development.
When Is the Next Battlefield Game Coming Out?
While we cannot confirm exactly when the game is releasing, tradition may provide us with a rough estimate.
Previous release dates (as of 2011):
- Battlefield 3 – October 25, 2011
- Battlefield 4 – October 29, 2013
- Hardline – March 17, 2015
- Battlefield 1 – October 21, 2016
- Battlefield V – November 9, 2018
Battlefield 2020 or 2019?
There is usually roughly a time period of two years between the release of each title. While the latest iteration arrived on November 9 of 2018, we predict that the next game in the series will launch in Holiday 2020.
Additionally, EA is set to release Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order later this year. As they presumably won’t want the next Battlefield title to interfere with the launch of this, it would seem very bizarre for Battlefield 2019 to be on the horizon.
Will There Be a Battlefield Bad Company 3?
Back in December 2018, a new rumor surfaced on PasteBin. An anonymous source claimed Bad Company 3 will be the next game in the series and will release on PS5 and Xbox Scarlet.
It’s important to take all rumors with some skepticism. Some of the other details on this have been proven correct thus far, however.
Fandom has also listed Bad Company 3 as the upcoming installment. However, this could very well be them just recirculating rumors. DICE has previously confirmed in 2013 that it will happen eventually, but exactly when remains unknown.
Battlefield 6 – Vietnam or Modern Day Era?
It’s unclear as to what the next title will be called. For now, it is usually referred to as Battlefield 6.
As of recently, DICE has brought Battlefield back to its historical roots. Battlefield 1 took place in WW1, while Battlefield V continued the chronological timeline with Battlefield V – taking a trip back to World War 2.
It would make sense for EA DICE to continue the historic root, rather than advancing far into the future.
Next Gen – PS5 & Xbox Scarlet
According to the PasteBin rumor, the next Battlefield game will launch on next-gen consoles. Irrespective of this, we still believe there is a good chance of this happening depending on when it arrives.
The PlayStation 5 has been rumored to release in Holiday 2020, while Microsoft has officially confirmed that this is the case with Xbox Scarlet. If the upcoming title does release in Holiday 2020, then there’s does no reason for DICE not to make it available on next-gen, in addition to PS4 and Xbox One.
