Battlefield 2042 Update Promises Fixes to Performance & Matchmaking

Battlefield 2042 just got its first update in weeks and DICE is promising patches to improve performance and fix matchmaking.

If you were waiting for a Battlefield 2042 update to give you a reason to pick up the game again, this might not be the one that does it. However, it’s nice to see that DICE is committing to improving 2042 not only performance-wise but in matchmaking too.

Recently, it’s been nothing but bad news for Battlefield 2042. While DICE was on its Christmas vacation, players were growing tired of playing EA’s newest shooter.

In fact, after many launch issues continue to ruin games, Battlefield 2042 is fast approaching 90,000 Mostly Negative reviews on Steam.

In fact, things have gotten so bad that Battlefield 5 and 1 are both overtaking 2042 in player count right now.

And reports even indicate that some players are managing to get Battlefield 2042 refunds, 2 months after launch day!

Now, EA is trying to give players faith that Battlefield 2042 will get some much-needed fixes to performance. And, for the first time in several weeks, we’re getting to hear from DICE.

Battlefield 2042 Getting 2 Minor Updates – Voice Chat, Performance & More

Battlefield 2042 fans can look forwards to 2 minor updates coming to the game very soon, with some popular features finally arriving.

First, Battlefield 2042 is getting a brand-new update dropping tomorrow. Update 3.2 is a relatively minor patch, but it is bringing some long-requested features to the game.

Here’s everything coming in Battlefield 2042 Update 3.2 on January 20!

Next up, Battlefield 2042 has another patch already in the works, but this one won’t be ready for some time. The Battlefield Direct Communications Twitter account promises some big improvements to the game, but don’t expect them soon.

Battlefield 2042 Voice Chat Release Date – Still No ETA

On top of those patch notes, DICE is confirming that it’s looking into a few other major features coming soon. First of all, Voice Chat will finally be arriving in Battlefield 2042 in the future, however with no release date to speak of.

The developer confirms that VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) is “on our radar”, and still front of mind. The same goes for Matchmaking Preferences which will be available in 2042 in the future.

Of course, one of the biggest issues with Battlefield 2042 is its overall performance, something that will also be addressed. Besides fixes coming in both minor updates, the Battlefield 2042 team is still analyzing data and making optimizations to improve performance on all hardware types.

“In every update, we’ll be delivering changes big and small that aim to tackle the issues and improve your experience.”

Interestingly, fixing Battlefield 2042 could be a double-edged sword. After all, this Battlefield 2042 cheat provider is allegedly shutting down due to game performance issues.

With Battlefield 2042 currently not in Steam’s Top 100 played games, could this be the comeback of the century?

It’s not likely, particularly as EA’s Communications Director just slammed fans for ‘brutal expectations.’

It’s clear that Battlefield 2042 content updates might not be enough to save the game. But at least some much-needed fixes are on the way for EA’s shooter.
