Battlefield 2042 Specialists Explained – All Characters Revealed

We may not know all of Battlefield 2042’s Specialists yet, but EA is already revealing 4 new characters.

Battlefield 2042 is making some changes to the standard multiplayer formula, and this is one of the big ones. No longer will players be taking on the role of the basic Assault, Medic, Support, or Recon classes.

Instead, Battlefield 2042 uses a Specialists system, allowing players to choose between a range of unique characters. Each Specialist comes with their own unique abilities, but the rest is down to you.

According to a new post on the official Battlefield 2042 website, Specialists each have one unique Specialty and an accompanying Trait. Other than that, their loadouts are fully customizable.

This is a great way to spice up the standard Battlefield gameplay, and we can’t wait to see how it works.

All Battlefield 2042 Specialists Revealed

Right now, EA is revealing the first 4 Specialists available in Battlefield 2042. However, there will be 10 unique characters revealed before the game releases.

Battlefield 2042’s official release date isn’t far away, so we’re sure we’ll be hearing more about the Specialists soon. For now though, we’ve got new details about 4 of the Specialists who are coming to Battlefield 2042 at launch.

Never fear, however, it looks as though all of the Specialists will be able to use Battlefield 2042’s new wingsuits!

Webster Mackay

An ex-military, lone-wolf survivalist, Mackay is an ass-kicker with a conscience. This Canadian-born Assault soldier fights for the Non-Patriated to make right a regret from his military days.

Webster has access to a Grappling Hook as his Specialty, allowing him to fire a rope and pull himself towards an attach point. This should make scaling Battlefield 2042’s destructible environments a cinch, and secures the Specialist as the game’s fastest character so far.

What’s more, the Nimble Trait allows Mackay to move more quickly when aiming down sights. We imagine this will be every streamer’s pick on launch day.

A veteran Support, Maria Falck has a strong will that cannot be shaken by danger, fear, or rank. This skilled Medic’s primary motivation is to find her son David among the non-patriated groups spread across the world.

As the perfect medic, Maria Falck can fire a Syrette Pistol syringe at allies to provide healing from a distance. However, an enemy hit by this weapon will take damage instead.

Falck’s Train is Combat Surgeon, allowing her to return downed allies to combat at full health when reviving them.

Pyotr ‘Boris’ Guskovsky

Self-motivated and self-fulfilling, Boris seeks to acquire power and control in a chaotic world. This Russian-born Engineer is a very experienced weapons expert on the Task Force, although his true attachment to the team is suspect.

Given that Battlefield 2042 is set in the future, it makes sense for some Specialists to have some high-tech weaponry. Boris has access to the SG-36 Sentry System, a turret that automatically spots and engages enemies detected within an area.

With his Sentry Operator trait, this Russian Specialist will spot any enemies that the sentry gun locks onto automatically.

Wikus ‘Casper’ Van Daele

Recon soldier Wikus is a loner – and the unflappable, calm presence on the Task Force. An introvert, Wikus does not make acquaintances easily, but his determination to fight for a better world is rock solid.

As a perfect Recon Specialist, Casper has his own ghillie suit and an OV-P Recon Drone Specialty. This hovering drone can spot targets and fire a disorientating EMP blast.

The drone can also designate targets for lock-on weapons, and a Movement Sensor will alert Casper to any approaching enemies. This Trait will kick in even if the user is piloting his drone.

Battlefield 2042 will have 10 Specialists to try at launch, but that’s not all. There are even more Specialists coming as part of Battlefield 2042’s live service content, EA reveals!

We’ve also got all the information you need about Battlefield 2042’s launch maps. With screenshots and tons of new info, it’s definitely worth a look.
