Battlefield 2042 is set for release on October 22, but there are still many unanswered questions, namely will server renting be present in the game? Now, a leaker has revealed new details regarding this feature, and whether it will be making a return.
Although there appears to be a steady stream of Battlefield 2042 news heading our way, fans are still eager for even more info. Recently, Battlefield 2042’s Redacted Mode was potentially revealed in a new teaser. However, despite this, Battlefield fans are looking to the more subtle details.
Interestingly enough, later tonight EA Play Live is set to unveil more information about Battlefield 2042. It is rumored that the Battlefield Hub mode may also finally be unveiled.
Whilst we know other minor details regarding opt-out crossplay and cross-progression for Battlefield 2042, there may now be an update on server renting in Battlefield 2042. However, as of right now this leaked information has not been confirmed, so please take it with a pinch of salt.
Is Server Renting Coming To Battlefield 2042?
According to credible leaker Tom Henderson on Twitter, today’s EA Play Live announcement for Battlefield 2042 could include information on server renting.
Interestingly, Henderson had the following to say with regards to server renting in the next Battlefield game:
Renting servers should be returning to Battlefield 2042 – Hoping we get that announcement today.@_Tom_Henderson_
Although this feature has been present in previous Battlefield games, EA DICE has made some significant changes in Battlefield 2042. For example, Battlefield 2042 will introduce new live-service content, including seasons and battle passes.
Understandably, this has got many players wondering what else might have changed in the next game. Furthermore, there are some players who already hate the introduction of the specialist system in 2042. Therefore, it could be the case that server renting has been removed entirely.
However, there is still plenty of information to come, both at tonight’s EA Play Live event and in the future. Furthermore, there is still the mysterious Hazard Zone which is yet to make an appearance. For the most part, EA DICE are remaining tight-lipped, although leaked details have emerged for Hazard Zone.
