Battlefield 2042 Season 1 is almost here and we may know what’s coming, including the game’s first DLC Specialist and map.
It’s been around 6 months since the launch of Battlefield 2042 and we’re still waiting on Season 1. All this time, the game’s been in its pre-season as fans wait for any sign of new content.
Now, we’re just days away from Battlefield 2042 Season 1’s June release date. And it seems like some major changes are coming to the game.
Battlefield 2042 Season 1: Everything We Know
Although EA has been very tight-lipped about Battlefield 2042 Season 1, we know plenty of details about what’s to come.
Thanks to Battlefield leaker Temporyal for sharing many of these details with us. While we’d advise taking some of this information with a pinch of salt, the leaker’s track record is reliable.
New Specialist: Ewelina Lis
Starting off with the game’s first DLC Specialist, it seems like Ewelina Lis will be the new face entering the Battlefield. For a while now, we’ve known that Battlefield 2042 is refusing to change its unpopular Specialist system.
However, it does seem like reworks will be coming to make Specialists more like classic classes in future.
The Polish Specialist will utilize a Guided Rocket Launcher as part of her core kit. However, her trait is currently unknown.
New Map: Exposure
Next up, Battlefield is getting a new map at last. Our first image of Exposure leaked all the way back in December, and we’ve been waiting for it to arrive ever since.
Allegedly, Exposure is set inside the Canadian mountains, where a secret research facility waits to be explored. EA also believes this incoming battlefield “takes map design to a whole new level”, so we’re eager to see it in action.
Thankfully, the new Exposure 24/7 playlist will give fans an easy way to jump into Season 1.
New Vehicles: Stealth Helicopters
In addition to other Season 1 content, Battlefield 2042 also appears to be getting two new vehicles to try out. The RAH-68 Shoshone and KA-99 Hannibal are stealth helicopters belonging to the US and Russian forces specifically.
Each vehicle has room for one pilot and another player in the gunner seat.
As for new weapons, we can’t be certain which new guns will be joining the roster just yet. Temporyal has previously leaked the AM-17 Assault Rifle, MGA Saw K LMG, TTS XCEED Sniper, CRB Scout, and M45A1.
Given that Battlefield 2042 has an extremely limited weapon pool, we can only hope that a few additions come with the major update.
Note: I don't have anything on new weapons or gadgets for Season 1. There are a few candidates I've spotted in past client versions (see image below), but I can't really connect them to the upcoming season. Therefore it didn't make sense to include them. pic.twitter.com/WJkvJSE1oM— temporyal (@temporyal) May 30, 2022
At last, the first Battlefield 2042 Battle Passes will also be arriving for players to grind out. Those who opted for the higher tier version of 2042 will be happy that they’re finally getting one of the Year One passes they paid for.
For everyone else, you’ll have the option of buying a Premium Battle Pass or the Premium Pass with 20 Tier Skips. It’ll be interesting to see what the Battle Pass looks like after fans hated DICE’s first cosmetic skin additions.
Earlier this year, one designer claimed that almost every Battlefield 2042 developer was still working on the game.
And although we did get a massive 4.0 update with 400+ bug fixes and changes in Battlefield 2042 recently, we’ve certainly seen little evidence of that fact.
Right now, players believe that DICE has secret AI bots disguised as players propping up the game. And if this is true, we’re not sure many gamers will be interested in Season 1.
