Battlefield 2042 Portal Mode Losing Players With Empty Servers

Battlefield 2042 was set to have a love letter to fans with Portal mode but it’s currently a ghost town of empty servers.

One of the biggest draws of Battlefield 2042 before launch was its Portal Mode. DICE promised to deliver a way of creating your own Battlefield experience, with assets from classic titles in a huge sandbox environment.

And while Portal Mode isn’t everything we were hoping it would be, it’s still one of the strongest elements on Battlefield 2042 as a whole. So why is Battlefield Portal dead already?

For many players it comes down to the fact that Battlefield Portal turned into an XP farm at launch. And only hours later, DICE nerfed XP in the mode to avoid players grinding out all of the game’s content.

Now, Battlefield 2042’s Portal Mode is full of empty servers and very few players.

Battlefield 2042 Fans Call Portal Mode ‘Dead’

It seems that Battlefield 2042 might already be down a game mode as fans call Portal ‘dead’.

Over the last few weeks, we’ve been seeing Battlefield 2042’s player base dropping fast.

Nowadays, it seems like fans are heading back to Battlefield 5 which has overtaken the newer game’s population on Steam.

On top of that, it seems like Battlefield 2042’s Hazard Zone has no players already, something that should concern the folks at EA.

Now, the Battlefield 2042 subreddit is discussing the state of Portal Mode and its empty servers. In a new post, Reddit user zodhr displays the EU server list, with only a handful of active games even available to play.

And it seems like the game’s community doesn’t think that the mode will see a resurgence either.

“This game is dead. In 2 months time EA will announce they are moving onto the next project,” one user comments. “No AAA game has consistently and quickly lost the playerbase like this game.”

We’ve taken a look at the Battlefield Portal servers currently active in the UK and we’re seeing little activity ourselves. Although the Battlefield Portal server list was full on launch day, it’s now noticeably empty.

Only a few servers actually have enough players to enjoy a game, and many further down the list only have 2 or 3 participants. Unfortunately, Battlefield 2042 Season 1 isn’t even close, which means we’ll be waiting a while for meaningful updates too.

Meanwhile, it seems like the Battlefield 2042 community is actually happy that the game is losing players right now. And many believe that Battlefield 2042 needs to go Free-to-Play to save itself.

Now, even All Out Warfare fans are giving up on Battlefield 2042 after long matchmaking times.

And while we just got our first image of a new Exposure map coming to Battlefield 2042, it might not arrive soon enough to save the player base.

Someone should have a look into anti cheat program as well. Not only bf 2042 is bad and full of bad craftsmanship, you get a anti cheat system that bans you for having software for your mouse or keyboard and it is Beeing seen as cheat ;)

Yea some Love Letter . My friend and I want to just play BAD COMPANY 2 in the portal and now we are forced to play BF3 and BF 1942 . Not right , what did I buy this game for if I cant just play what I want ? I mean we don't just want to play BAD COMPANY , we do play 2042 for a couple hours and enjoy Bad Company for an hour or so at the end of the night . EA needs to get there *#@**# together and gear more to the players who support them . Why advertise you can customize your games you want in the portal if you can't . Sounds like we should get some of our money back
