Battlefield 2042 Player Count Starting to be Overtaken by Battlefield 1 on Steam

First Battlefield 5 took the lead, now Battlefield 1 appears to be overtaking the Battlefield 2042 player count on Steam.

Things aren’t looking good for Battlefield 2042, which has been seeing substantial drops to its player count since launch. Of course, it’s natural for a game’s popularity to decline after the success of launch day, but rarely do we see drop-offs this extreme.

In recent weeks, we’ve seen Battlefield 5 overtake Battlefield 2042 in player count on Steam. Now, the older title is comfortably ahead of its competition.

Despite a peak of 100,000 players at launch, Battlefield 2042 currently has a 24-hour peak of just 8,948 users. Meanwhile, Battlefield 5 is sitting at a peak of 21,462 players in the last day, and even Battlefield 1 is about to overtake the new title.

Remarkably, it seems that some Battlefield fans are actually happy that Battlefield 2042 is losing players to older titles! And with old servers increasing in popularity, this is the perfect time to explore what the franchise has to offer.

Battlefield 1 Player Count About to Surpass Battlefield 2042

It seems that Battlefield 1 will be the next title in the franchise to overtake Battlefield 2042 in player count.

Right now, Battlefield 1 and 2042 are neck and neck, battling it out to see which one comes out on top. But with the newer game’s popularity dropping fast, it seems that the WW1 shooter is about to win the race.

Reddit user W3kkuli pointed out that the Battlefield 1 player count is higher than its younger brother according to SteamCharts. And while that’s not currently the case any longer, it certainly shows that the older game is ready to overtake.

It’s important to note, however, that these statistics only apply to the Steam users playing Battlefield titles. And while they might be reflective of the overall player sentiment, the amount of users online on Origin or PlayStation and Xbox consoles is unknown.

What’s also notable is that Battlefield 2042 matchmaking times are incredibly long right now, according to the game’s community. And since it’s only been 2 months since release, this is no doubt a concern for both DICE and EA.

Currently, Battlefield 2042 isn’t part of the top 100 games on Steam, and it’s been a fast decline.

So fast, in fact, that it has some fans worried that Battlefield 2042 could be the death of the franchise.

Because of that, Battlefield 2042 players are planning a boycott of the game to protest against EA. But going by these player numbers, perhaps many fans are just giving up on the title entirely.

Battlefield one was such a cool and complete game vs 2042. I still play it often. Super disappointed with 2042.

Yeah, i posted comparison with the Fortnite tornadoes this morning. No comments. Than I see similar posts, I commented, no reply. Later that post gone as well. I checked in incognito. Both post deleted. Only I can see my posts and comments since the morning. I'm not offensive or rude, just disagree the game direction. Others post gone as well, some shows 12 replies, but actually only 4 showing. They now silence people hard with AutoModerator.
